There's no shortage of messenger apps, and all of them offer the same features, more or less. Telegram is one of the better alternatives, but the problem is simple, WhatsApp has the highest userbase, which is why most of us have stuck with it even with it's association with FakeBook.

Glad to be part of the EU, with it's very high standards of privacy protection.

Boycott both these data collection kraken! I have no Facebook account and never had one but unfortunately I use Whatsapp. From now I'll switch to Whatsapp-Alternative Threema.

Everyone notice how quickly he wants the change and acceptance?! In 30 days you will be banned.
Last time I thought EU has decided that it won't allow these 2 platforms to merge their data.

Since last two years, I am using Telegram and Twitter and had stopped using all the Facebook owned apps. I am not missing anything. There is life beyond social media apps.

Majority of the users will probably accept the new privacy policy but for those who don't use Facebook or value privacy, it can be a dealbreaker. The only reason I had to use WhatsApp is because of how mainstream it is. Having used WhatsApp for so long, I do hold some sentimental value especially entertaining conversations. I could use a fake Facebook account but Facebook can still capture a lot of my personal information. Google also has my personal information. People really need to be educated on the effects of data collection.

I was actually avoiding using WhatsApp having assumed that they've been doing it this whole time since the acquisition.
