Anonymous, 20 Jan 2021Lg, what do you expect....my 2 cents as a business consulta... moreI agree with a lot of your points but I'd add a few tweaks. From what I can tell about marketing, yes overall they need to do a better job internally documenting and marketing the cools features and how they've designed it to improve day to day use and they need to spend more money - their marketing partners seem limited compared to other OEMs.
R&D + availability I do agree are large points however I wouldn't see them completely stop the wing or Rollable type development. It's clear that there needs to be a new form factor development and that could be just what's needed to leap frog to the front (think apple overtaking blackberry) I just think they need to get real and either realise these are still infancy-early early adopter tech and will be sold in lower numbers (due to cost) or keep them quiet and the budget down until this market segment has grown. The dual screen could've served as a nice buffer for a few years had they really refined it further (velvets is a good example, much nicer) but poor availability hampered the velvets dual screen advantage/option. My fear is that these cool devices get released but only in a few markets

Anonymous, 20 Jan 2021Sad day for the mobile phone market, LG was actually one of... moreEspecially for those who are wary of Chinese brands, or are basically forced to be like those in the US.
Apple v Samsung is almost the entire game for those consumers now. Apple don't even play in the midrange outside of occasionally dropping an SE, and Samsung are wildly inconsistent at every price point these days. Leaves a huge gap for China phones to fill, but if you can't or won't buy those...

Sad day for the mobile phone market, LG was actually one of the most exciting manufacturers out there with all those crazy experiments... Bad news regardless if you're LG fan or not, the less competition the worse

Arod, 20 Jan 2021wow 4.5 million dollars of making the most garbage phones e... moreBillion, 4.5 billion USD. I personally have never ever been at luck with anything LG I've owned, and that includes a nexus device (mainboard burnt out within year, fixed in guarantee, a year's later the ear speaker broke and now cannot be used as a phone only a micro tablet), TVs, video recorders in the past, pretty much renaming goldstar did not change much. Blah.

I had to import from USA my LG G8 in EU, LG V50 and LG 60 could not find in my country.
Now with HiBy releasing a 10 grams 4x MQA certified ESS portable DAC, i will return to Huawei P40 Pro or P50 Pro and use the external DAC for HiFi audio with my IEM's.

Anonymous, 20 Jan 2021Mistakes done in past 5 years
1) Too many phones per yea... moreexactly on the point for everything, but for the second note lg needs to offer different things to get recognised just look at wing and velvet at least they got some attention, LG needs to invest a lot on marketing strategies .
their phones always includes so many features that isn't mentioned until someone discover it .
6) downgrades to keep price lower. Removal of QHD and the 52mm camera on V series, also lack of faster storage/usb/ram.
V60 price tag was competing with S20 so they rely on digital zoom just like S20/S20+ ,but for storage/usb/ram , as I said LG need to focus on the marketing their phones properly , V60 sport UFS3.0 + LPPDR5

G8/V50 still rules 2020/21 phones even better than S21 series (which IMO should be called S11).
flat QHD+ , Quad Dac , MicroSD , 16bit raw DNG , FHD 240fps or 4K60fps Manual video on all cameras...
or V60 8K24fps HDR10+ manual video or HD 480fps Manual
above all and a beast battery life (V50 , V60 )

Lg, what do you expect....my 2 cents as a business consultant professionally is
1.sack the useless marketing team, they are just marketing the wrong products half heartedly and more or less only selling Lg products in two regions, only U.S and local South Korean market! They have totally ignored the European regions and most parts of the wealthier Asian countries such as HK and Southeast Asian regions and even to Oceania. For example why are the factories not making simple minor software adjustments to the V60 ( great product IMHO but sadly it was never released globally as Dual Sim-Hybrid SIM outside the US & Canada-which I get it with carrier lock preference sales distribution in US BUT what about the remaining global countries and regions ? Only a a few unlock single sim here and there countries like Taiwan NOT even a Hybrid/Dual Sim! It has to be a dual sim if you are going to capture sales in Asian countries in particular.....ibasically unreleased to the rest of the world! How much market share did you expect to gain globally if you are only concentrating on the US markets....seriously?
2. While the R&D is innovative but instead of just capitalising on the successful lines Lgi s blowing big bucks on innovative R&D but questionable low volume selling products such as Wing and new Rollable's, maybe spend less on those massive R&D concentrate on your SOFTWARE updates (LH has one the poorest record of any major manufacturer) and capitalise on existing lines of product people are familiar with the V series (decent following of the Quad Dacs and built quality, even the last replaceable battery for a flagship V20, I loved it) for example and distribute them globally e.g like the V60 which I would have rushed to buy one if they actually sold it with a Hybrid/Dual SIM.
3. Inconsistent marketing once again e.g Vevet sold in Aust is as single handsets NO options for the Second screen at all, so what's the point of releasing the velvet but handicap its selling point as a dual screen, without it there is nothing special about it any other handsets are better at cheaper price, Oneplus Nord, Xiaomi's, Pixels, Samsung A series etc
Seriously please consider my advice Lg., I promised your sales would have increased and R&D budgets needs to slow down or decreased. as they say colloquially, Lg you are just ""shooting blanks"" by releasing many innovative product to nowhere!

All they had to do was get rid of their software and add Google's pixel stock rom and they would be good to go. their issue with competing was never about their hardware because they always had great hardware
