Anonymous, 27 Jan 2021And I'm sitting here with my z5c... Looks like nobody ... moreI had the Z5C and missed it. The 2GB RAM is not enough in 2021 but i'm eyeing the XZ1C. Not yet sure if it's worth it. Looks like we will not see a true compact size phone in the future.

I think we can call the Moto Razr a compact :)

Diamon, 27 Jan 2021Overpriced and nothing special about it, the features they ... moreHonestly this thing might be the ONLY device where the "Pro" monniker is justified.
If you're looking for 'just a smartphone' this is certainly the worst bang for your buck.
As I see it the Xperia Pro combines an HDMI recorder with a monitor and a 5G transmitter for live streaming, but in one pocketable device. Kinda like a leatherman multitool, but for camera crews.
There is really no other all-in-one alternative like the Xperia Pro at this point.
Will it replace existing dedicated video recording/monitoring and streaming solutions? No. Is it more compact and cheaper than said equipment combined? Absolutely + it also functions as a smartphone

Dxomark score xperia 1 ii is 112 points. Disaster for Sony. This one will be the same score. As I told you before Sony should stop with lg making phones and focus on their tv.

AGhorab, 27 Jan 2021i like sony's idea but since you released it a year la... moreNot many phones have launched with SD 888 and there seems to be a lot of complaint about how hot it is like in the Xiaomi Mi 11. Furthermore, the Xperia Pro is developed during the same time when the Xperia 1 ii was officially announced. So it's not surprising for me to see Sony still retain the SD 865 chipset.

Always love to see comedic (more like idiotic) comments on this site about Sony Xperia. Michael Fisher aka MrMobile made a concise review of the Xperia Pro despite reviewing the pre-production unit. Put it simply, it's not for mainstream general consumers who only care about spec sheet bragging rights and price. If you ever been working on the TV industry, you know just how bloody expensive their equipments are. For them, $2,500 is peanuts especially for something with an HDMI INPUT port and multiple shortcut button.

i like sony's idea but since you released it a year later why not one more month and put a 888 on it instead. this isn't a consumer phone any way.

If sony can afford to make this pro line. hopefully they'll consider bringing back the compact line. I believe there are more consumers who'll be interested in the compact line than the pro. Both target the niche market.

vrvly, 27 Jan 2021lololol, its like screen and internet for their camera so i... moreJust letting you know that generally in the professional scene where money isn't much of a factor, specs become less relevant. Since they'll always become obsolete in 1 or 2 years when the new generation comes out - the main buying factor would basically be it's versatility with being a phone, monitor and 5G wireless.

lololol, its like screen and internet for their camera so it does not feel cheap at 9000 dollars . But now it does as those hdmi/mmwave are riding on year old hw.
Year later, not worldwide, pricy, do this in this corona time and you are bound to be in red. As opposed to A7c which was quite a satisfactory for me, though still missing that R.
Would expect revolutionary alpha with bended sensor and xperia0 for that prices, not just next gen camera and last gen phone evolution.

Shanti Dope, 27 Jan 2021Rich people only sees the popular products, but sure enough... moreBut you would complain if this were an Apple or Samsung product, right?

Think BetaCAM not BetaMAX - A lot of people think this is aimed at consumers. It is not. It is for those that bought the broadcast professional equipment not the phone for everyday use at home. Therefore it's price and it's target audience are not the sort who buy the phones they are comparing it with. It fills a very different user need.

                        Cheap.

ironically, other manufacturers use the word "pro" unnecessarily and people go gaga... ha ha...

Real MrMobile, 26 Jan 2021You've probably watched my video. Let me rephrase it t... moreWell let me rephrase to you what professional features
differentiate this phone from the standard 1 II :

                                  -Sub 6 5G

                                  -Micro HDMI Port

-Optimized antenna design for better sub 6 reception

                                  -Live broadcasting

-An app to find the best network reception spots

And that's it. For the "21:9 CinemaWide™ 6.5" 4K HDR OLED display" Sony
says and I quote from their website :
"You’ll find the same features on our flagship consumer smartphone, the Xperia 1 II"

Same goes for "Record movies with parameters and color settings similar to the professionals"
-> You’ll find the same features on our flagship consumer smartphone, the Xperia 1 II.

I guess Sony expect the Alpha camera owner to complete
his set with the Xperia Pro, but this ain't no professional device.

Sticking feathers up your buttt doesn't make you a chicken.

Nick Tegrataker, 27 Jan 2021Given how much Sony bragged about the display on the REGULA... moreHow many times people need the explaination. It's really boring now to explain every individual.

First of all, this Xperia Pro is a Monitor which can broadcast live streaming. This is aimed at PROFESSIONALS who use many accessories for the same end effect (Probably costs more than 3000 $)

Secondly, the DESIGN you're talking about must be changed for 4 5G antennas in addition to the specifications from Xperia 1 II. This internal Design is what I believe they worked/tweaked for last 1 year or so.

This is not for regular users. This is for Professionals who use mini external display and carry broadcasting accessories with them. Not for you who uploads pictures to Instagram and play CODM/PUBG.
