Mobxpert, 28 Jan 2021Trueyes this is true. i believe sony images are the most accurate as what you see in your eyes, while most of the others are bumping up colors or other image/photo specs just to look more beautiful/pleasing in the eyes.

Anonymous, 28 Jan 2021I've said this before, the 2 companies with the most m... moreApple and Samsung don't need DxO as marketing platform. Instead DxO uses them as "benchmark" in order to make Chinese ODM to buy the spec sheet and score better against the two. If Sony tomorrow becomes the best selling phone DxO would use it as a "benchmark" again in order to sell Chinese ODM their test specsheet. Suddenly mobile photography would be about natural color, high burst shooting, HDR video etc instead of stacked image dynamic range.

As I told you Sony should quit phone business. Same score for xperia pro will be . Haha 2500 euro. No thanks Sony at all

Nick Tegrataker, 28 Jan 2021Or, it might be just Sony used to pay a lot of money then D... moreI've said this before, the 2 companies with the most money are Apple and Samsung. If money can influence DXOmark reviews then their phone cameras would top the score charts.

The telephoto is lacking compared to the other two, and guess what? It's the only one of the trio made by Samsung. And from testing it, I can say it's true. With low ISO it's pretty good, but as soon as it has to increase it, the picture will lack details, while the other two sensors can still do well.

Surprised about the autofocus issues they had though, I can't remember of a phone that was this fast and consistent.

I've seen a few brands who process the images so much that they make the photos look outlandish. Putting in some crappy lens to reduce cost and adding a software to cover that up. The result: Aliens.

I never liked Sony phones being overpriced for what they offer and sometimes offering unconventional specs and bizarre design (21:9 aspect ratio, 4K phone screen displays, with huge bezels and the smallest battery capacities among recent flagships), but they do produce nice photos that look less processed and a lot more natural looking than others. Not the best, but certainly nowhere near mediocre or bad. That being said, nobody should read and believe DxOcrap's ratings and reviews. They have lost all credibility and dignity by not being transparent about their weighted scoring methods and by collaborating with phone manufacturers so the manufacturer can score better on their flexible, ever changing testing protocols.

DxOMark did a very poor and lazy job with their review. They did not use the phone’s capabilities and basically tested it like they would an iPhone camera (and this is coming from an iPhone user). Who even believes their test results anyways anymore?

I had an Xperia 5 II to replace a P30 Pro with a cracked screen and returned it after just 10 days. I really wanted to like it. For simple snapshots (80% of my shooting) the Photo Pro App just wasn't satisfying. And the lack of night mode or other AI assists for low light is just silly. My P20 pro from 2018 took better pictures than the Sony. The Sony may do better in long exposures with a tripod but I use my phone for photography when I don't want to carry heavy stuff.

Lets face it, Xperia are too lazy with computational photography in Auto mod (invest most on Photo Pro & Cinema Pro). They must know how to tackle market, not a simple JPEG compression that limited by hardware. The only impressive thing about it are only 20fps with AE/AF. Its a long time overdue.

Hopefully Xperia 1iii can do something.

We already knew they are igorant. And have paid articles. Now they triumphantly admit it themselves. It's the only flagship that produces natural images, not looking like oil paintings. Its camera is MILES ahead any other flagship, maybe Huawei is the only one that can challenge Sony and not in all scenarios.

To be honest, truth be told. I think sony hasn't been innovative enough with their smartphone business. Agreed, they are good with outdoor camera business but are really behind with respect to phones. I have used a sony Flagship phone before but I was very disappointed with the quality of the phone's camera. Sony needs to reinvent themselves, it's too bad. They are better than what are they offering presently in mobile phone department.

Actually S20 with its camera performance of 12mp big pixels or 64mp insane resolution and 8K, should be priced at 2500 euro, just compare its performance to new 6000$ 8K alpha 1 camera in full size camera world, its like Alpha galaxy but dirt cheap.
Sw processing aside, just pure hw is enough to put xperia to embarrassment.
                                        Their tech is way overpriced.
