Dual tiny 8K oled screens with 120hz and a processor to run the show.
This if it's a standalone device with its own OS like Oculus. Is going to have a very expensive bill of materials. Macbook internals, the most expensive screen technology, new OS. $3000 suddenly doesn't sound too ridiculous.

Not surprised, Apple is in the market of pushing prosummer products - priced like professional stuff, but used by folks who have money to burn and not actual professional use cases. And it works for them.

Why not? It's clearly showcase product for enterprise to show what AR/VR can be in full potential. No regular user will ever buy this, even $1000 would be too much. But just like company putting out super expensive advanved tv to show what the potential is in the future. This isn't any different from that.

why the hell would they put an 8k display on it? its not enough to justify the greedy price for a "professional" piece of hardware.

The pixel density is going to make me go nuts.

apple is also going to have to develop the GPU capable of powering this. with any luck the price of the GPU will be slightly below that of the device itself.

                    Not surprised
