Sony Xperia 1 II received the External monitor app from the Xperia Pro with the Android 11 update

This app allows the phone to serve as an external monitor for your digital camera. It's not clear whether the Xperia 5 II will get the app as well.

Do cameras underexpose faces in favor of background? No
Do cameras have burst without AF? No

Take photo with 1iii, 12 Pro, S20U, P5 and any real camera.
Check which phone gives closer photo compared to camera.

By the way, turn off HDR of these phones.
You get a 100% white sky on cloudy day.

        For live broadcast.
        Cameras have poor screen, not even HD because of their small batteries.
        Cameras like A9, A1 , R5, Z7 have less than 2000mAh. Reason they use low resolution screens.

          Life is not just auto HDR 100% of the time.

          This is why Apple, Samsung and Google give wrong photos.
          Totally opposite of what cameras do.

            Flagships bring more profits than midranges/low ends.

            Just look at Canon. Their marketshare is mostly sub $500 apsc cameras.
            They make less money than Sony, that focus more on Full Frame.
            Leica does not have cheap cameras as well.

            Look at cars makers. Slowly killing cheap cars in favor of SUVs.

            Sony is not even top6 in TV sales, but os top3 profits.

Google's approach is mainly software / computational photography while using a smaller (1/2.55") sensor than the Xperia (1/1.7"). I'm contrast Nokia PureView 808 used a 1/1.2" sensor... Moto Edge+ a 1/1.33" sensor... But that doesn't perform any better than the Pixel. Sony's approach is to mimick their Alpha cameras which they've done by giving you professional manual controls in the photo and video apps. True their non pro app could use better image processing improvements but overall the sensor size Sony is using isn't the issue. Most people think the photo pro app on the Xperia does a great job... It's the basic camera that people complain about... Which is really a software problem not a sensor problem.

                  I personally bought the Xperia 1 ii to be a companion to my Sony mirrorless camera... All the features they adding just enhances that position as a companion device for Alpha users

                      Nope... Doesn't exist!!!

                      Truth is that Chinese manufacturers have captured the sub 400$ market and they have such a tight grip over it now that Sony, LG and others simply can't compete with the quality provided by the Chinese.
                      This is why no one wants to buy Sony in that price range. Heck no one wants to buy it in the above 800$ price range either because of high price and poor availability.

                        I think an usb-c to HDMI adapter won't work as those are one direction only.

                          Good news, and the bad news is short sighted as usual not having Hdmi be it a mini or normal size port, modern cameras will work with the mini computer ( smartphones) from now on, fast data and video delivery, locations, editing, audio and microphones, remote controls and selfie

                                There's absolutely no reason you should need to have a $2000 phone or a phone of a specific brand to make a smartphone serve as a second screen for any device.

Modern smartphones camera hardware is pretty much on the same level as older 41MP Nokia phones, it's the software that needs some serious attention. Some phones suffer from too much oversharpening effect, even on zoom and lowlight conditions.

                                      Great feature, but I don't think I'll be using it since I don't have a DSLR or Mirrorless camera anymore.
