I read that as Carl pay nothing to acquire Essential. Good job Carl. It worthless now.

Maybe Carl Pei wants to inject the original OnePlus spirit into upcoming Essential smartphones. But hey, only time will tell.

I actually had an Essential PH-1 and loved it, tho it had some problems. I hope they can make something better and not too expensive

I would love to see a follow up to the orginal Essential Phone, using the same design and size, but with a non-crappy camera. But it seems so anti-thetical to the type of designs that OnePlus embraced, it's hard to imagine that's what Pei would do.

This sounds like Nothing is gearing up to make something Essential.
One BIG request to Carl Pei and the good folks at Nothing..plssss just make a phone with at least a 17:9 or even 18:9 aspect ratio..of course with good cameras, good stereo speakers with headphone jack and don't forget the BIG battery.
I'm tired of the narrow elongated remote-control like phones with 19+:9 aspect ratios. It's time for a phone with a little bit of width

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2021The closet thing to a dap/phone are the LG flagships, Vivos... moreactually, Onkyo (asian only release) DP-CMX1 was a mid range phone with excellent audiophile quality features with significant audio features surpassing LG flagship phones such as 2.5mm balanced output, separated audio dac which is sheilded from the remaining phone, shame the UI is dodgy and slow as result of lack of ram and inexperience with android from Onkyo, maybe Nothing audiophile phone could surpass this milestone, if they release one.
It's also noted that Sony walkman engineers have briefly mentioned possible cooperation in the future between xperia phone and walkman, whether this is approved for an proper audiophile xperia phone in future is another matter

Didn't Google invest 15 mil in them not so long ago?
Carl Pei recently said he wanted to create a "family of devices that communicates well together". Does that sound familiar to you? Yeah, yet another Chinese businessmen trying to make another Apple.
Carl is a capable leader but many have failed to do that in the past. But with Google's backing, who knows?
Guess we'd just have to see.
