My favourite resolution displays on mobile devices is around "2k" but I love watching 4k media on them. Down-scaling 4k to my Galaxy tab's OLED screen makes for some beautifully sharp and colourful Mandalorian.

I've used vanced for access to higher res youtube for years now but I'm glad more people will get more options.

It has to be a bug. 1440p and 2160p videos will still stream at 1080p in a FHD+ screen.

SEUL8TR, 20 Feb 2021You need at least 80mbps to on 2160p 4k too buffer smoothly.Mine isn't buffering even at 40

This is a fantastic change of YouTube, even though I'm currently using a phone with a 1080p resolution, incredible stuff!

TheGoldenMellifluous, 20 Feb 202180+ comments, and knowing it very well that from the title ... more6 from Sony.
One from a american company I do not remember the name.

80+ comments, and knowing it very well that from the title itself, and there are only 6 4K devices ever released since 2015, and the controversy surrounding the OEM who created the "4K-smartphone" device until currently, boy it was expected and quite "an argument" sigh...

YUKI93, 20 Feb 2021Would love to see how YouTube 4K video plays on Sony Xperia... moreI have it on my Sony XZP 4K 2160p.

Huawei Fan Man, 20 Feb 2021I just tested it on mine Mate 20 X and it doesn't look... moreYou need at least 80mbps to on 2160p 4k too buffer smoothly.

It's a welcome feature. But I think 1080p is enough in a smartphone for most people. But obviously having more freedom of choosing video resolution is always good. Thank you Google.
