The trio offers 120 Hz Super AMOLED displays, Snapdragon 800 chips and high-resolution cameras - not to mention aggressive pricing.

None of them. I already have a shovel to clean up the snow. Properly designed phone shouldn't be larger than 150x68.

Not talking about poor camera setup - very cheap poor ultra wide angle camera, yet with useless "macro" camera, and no tele camera.

    3.5 jack is still relevant, the blueprint just removes out of nowhere. and that blueprint fan company just does it too, just like removing the box.

All the snapdragon 800 series Chinese variant Xiaomi phones currently come pre-installed with Google services framework but the snapdragon 700 series phones and Mediatek ones don't (at least the ones I checked) . Basically, it seems that Xiaomi didn't certify their Chinese midrangers with Google to save costs so by allowing users to sideload they were breaking rules

            1. Performance (i do lots of editing and multitasking)
            2. Battery life enough to last me a day of 8 hours
            3. Charging 100% under 1 hour
            4. Screen (comfortable enough at night, bright enough outdoors, sharp enough at 1080p, 60hz is fine, oled and lcd, i don't care)

              Actually there are many people like me, who doesnt care about camera because we nowdays there are many option to make picture looked good. Just install Gcam or edit your photo in lightroom then settle.

              People like me care about value, like SD870 is still reliable with flagship performance, but comes at better price bracket, and we do not buy last year SD865 phone. This people Xiaomi want to target, and it set new trend where last year flagship chipset will become this year midrange-flagship model at a affordable price. This will make second hand SD865 phone price market will drop and Xiaomi sees that coming.

I manged to pre-book the pro model but after trying them in a Xiaomi store yesterday I regretted not getting the regular version. There is no significant difference and cameras are more or less on par. Unfortunately though I know i won't be able to buy the regular version as the demand is huge and supply is limited so anyone who didn't manage to pay the deposit in the prebooking has very little chance of getting it for months (apart from paying more through 3rd party resellers) . This always happens when a very good value Xiaomi phone is released (they never have sufficient stock at least in China). Both phones also support GMS as Google Services Framework is pre-installed. Pity the k40 is so limited in supply.

It doesn't heat up fast, it doesn't throttle, which means you don't even need cooling system. Mi 11 and Iqoo 7 even with cooling system that great still overheats easily, what about an phone without one? 870 is more stable at performance. Even Vivo phones with 888 stops anything you are doing when the temperature reaches 48°C. The difference between the 64 MP and 48 MP isn't huge. Since you get the same lowlight performance, 12 MP is good enough at binned mode. 8k recording is still available though.

                    The biggest difference againnn... Is the price. For 1000 yuan less (aka 100 dollars less, you get an better phone but unknown)

                    Less heat and throttling means longer usability, better sustained performance, better battery life, battery span is longer. What's the point of super high power if the battery ages out first?

But Xiaomi just like other companies, wants to make "Higher Numbers are better" (which is sometimes true). Just go to gcam with any 20 MP Selfie camera Xiaomi phone, and the max resolution is 5 MP, binned is at 5 MP, while unbinned is at 20 MP.

                                Sela, 28 Feb 2021why do we need high end chip if the camera`s are worthless.... moreWhat do you expect for the price point? $300 for a snapdragon 870 and $430 for a snapdragon 888? These flagship killer are focusing on the chipset and definitely not for a mobile photographer. At least they finally put some attention to the display and this is an obvious sign this phone mostly are for gaming purpose. (Flagship chipset with a high refresh rate display)

                                If you want an excellent all-rounder phone, get an iPhone 12 or a proper flagship eg. S21 series, OP 9 series/Oppo find X3 series (soon to be released on march/april) or iPhone 12 pros.

                                  I won't get that excited about the price tag. Sure that the starting price at around $310 look tempting, but it could be just a China-only price. Also, you need to remember Xiaomi's recent statement about sideloading Google Mobile Services (GMS) on China-only models, so the possibility of either variant not having GMS is inevitable.

                                      All those mid-range with 700 series Snapdragon
                                      All those mid-range with 700,800,1000 series Dimensity
                                      .... All will be crushed.
