LG V60's successor reportedly put on hold

LG has reportedly put field testing on its next smartphone on hold indefinitely.

LG phones have overall failed to

- make meaningful promises and actually go through with them (calling their G5 attempt a "failure" doesn't ensure future customers when they might consider something like... the LG Wing). I doubted the whole "Explorer Project" for the same reasons as well.

- improve upon features that fans wanted to see a second version of, such as modularity or the 2nd ticker display from the V10 and V20. People (me included), kinda liked a dedicated spot where all notifications and aods stay, it was a really good feature that was unfortuantely axed by the introduction of the V30. Sure it had AOD and it brought back some functionalities of the second ticker display by software, but at that point, it was not unique.

-LG prices their phones waay high, as if they are not aware of their brand value/recognition. There was a buzz by LG when the award winning film "Parasite" shown the main protagonist and their "poor background" family still using a LG G3 while the other, rich family was using iPhones. While uncomfirmed, the director of the movie may have used LG phones intentionally, to show how economically struggling families use LG phones, which the people at LG did not like, but that is the reality. Those with more disposable incomes don't buy an LG flagship. And LG doesn't seem to recognize this and price their phones waay higher than what most average customers perceive them.

How are they being promoted any different than LG? The enthusiasts, aka the people that even know LG and Sony makes phones are really uninterested in any type of marketing and will just buy the phone with or without any catchy marketing campaigns and what not.

But because of the Chinese smartphone brands who keep aggressively price their phones, pretty much everyone expects to get that same premium experience for much less money. But then again, even the cheapest Samsung Galaxy S20 is $999 and the more recent Galaxy S21 starts at $799, so he may have a point about the V60 after all. Also, we are talking about the kind of person who doesn't mind paying a lot of money for Samsung and Apple phones. It can be difficult to side with popular YouTubers and influencers.

      Speaking of $400 Velvet though, you may want to check the Q92 5G. That is basically the same phone as Velvet with pretty much the same spec but without the DualScreen support.

        also the argument about selling Velvet for 400$ and V60 for 700$ is so lame .
        even velvet is sporting a premium build and not plasticy .

Take a look at Sony - even though not many people buy their Xperia phones, they still do some real marketing. And then there's the region availability - you really don't see LG phones officially sold in a lot of countries. I myself have to import my V50 with its DualScreen case all the way from the USA. That's not a good sign to me.

Like LG Wing, who would buy a SD765 sma... moreIf LG launched the Wing 5G at that time with SD 865 or SD 865+, I would expect to see it cost the same or probably a little bit more than the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra, and that Samsung phone itself is already too expensive in the first place.

                  Maybe LG can use the time to restructure its marketing action. Just yesterday Mrwhosetheboss talked about LG phones and, for once, he does talk common sense. Even Sony do some real marketing with their Xperia phones even though it's not that popular.

                    He also detailed the marketing issues, and most importantly, he mentioned the fact that LG rarely sends phones to youtubers for reviewes, and that's true... You see, some youtubers have a huge influence in the social media with their millions of subscribers, and LG marketing team simply ignoring this as well as many other ways they could implement to promote their products .

                          It is all thanks to their awful marketing and weird availability

                              LG must send me the LG Wing so i can start taking my first flight. And they must come up with LG landing i must land somewhere. I have a few lg products ; i just need wings

                                LG phones are much better than Samsung midrange phones and I don't know why people don't buy them
