If your referring to Huawei because of their progress with refining smartphone camera quality then I disagree with you.

“Revolutionized” should be talking about the firsts in comparison with the best of those generations, almost anybody with an idea, resources and know how can pull a first, who were those that did it well? Those were those that revolutionized things, those that made us look to phones as the first option of convenience and quality 🤦🏽‍♂️

[deleted post]I was almost going to agree, until you said "close to DSLR."

Are....you.....f*ck*n....serious??? Man, April Fools' still far away! Come on, there's absolutely no way a smartphone like an iPhone or whatever Android would be able to compete with large cameras that have at least 5x the sensor size as those found on smartphones. Get that straight at least!

The only time a smartphone image would come close to a DSLR is if the camera of the phone will be maximized to its full potential, such as involving heavy computational photography and AI enhancements, and will then be compared to DSLR's results in WORST case scenarios of usage, like shooting purely in JPEG in the green box mode.

If you really know DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, then you should definitely know that shooting with them in RAW and editing them in post would absolutely destroy any smartphone camera you'll compare it to. You just cannot beat physics with whatever tricks you apply. Proper digital cameras evolve just as much as smartphone cameras do, if not more.

The biggest revolution is definitely stacking and usage of color sensors and AI, as to compensate size with being smart.

If they make article about the most useless stuff related to mobile pgotography, the macro/depth cam will surely be there.

I dont understand what keeps brands from using even a simple 8MP behind 50-54mm lens instead of macro + depth for midranges/low ends.

Even worse on phones that cost more than 700 euros.
If Pro version has 3-5x camera, why not using 2x for non-pro?

                                    Not binning.

Downsampling 38MP to 5MP allows to have same details of 38MP photo but file has size of 5MP camera. This feature was later used by Sony (20.7 down to 8MP).
This is why downsampling to 5MP makes photos light years better than native 5MP photos.
