To use the phone as EVF for cameras (their screen is not even HD).
If people can play games on small phone screen, can create power point presentation (cough cough Samsung Note tv ad) on small phone screen, so people can watch 4K videos on the phone.
Funny, when youtube got option to see 4K on any phone, tons of people started to use.

Mediatek sux, 15 Mar 2021What exactly is the use for 4k on such a small display?So it can be the proper pentile matrix OLED display that does have enough subpixels to equal LCD FHD subpixels. On the other hand 4K LCD on such small footprint has no point but on crappy mobile OLED it matters and it's perceivable.

Maybe it have biggest Vapor chamber in phone but is also a biggest mistake to ask 2500 bucks for phone worth maybe 500 .

Mediatek sux, 15 Mar 2021What exactly is the use for 4k on such a small display?It's a better display- has higher pixel density and most people who watch content on their smartphones use devices closer to their face to fill up what you can see (viewing distance on average can be as little as 5"). At that distance the resolution difference is noticeable, heck even in regular use you can tell a low res/ 1080p smartphone from its wallpaper, so the 4K helps in regular sharpness of icons/ text/ images on the device. Also the most important thing is color accuracy, which Sony with it's link to movie production nails and makes some of the most color accurate smartphones when watching content. If none of that clicks or makes sense, there is also the reason that it is a flagship smartphone and should come with the best tech available to man- why is there 8K recording, 8GB+ Ram, what do you think people that record 4K videos on their phone play it back on- their phones, why do we want the best processor in our devices despite the actual increase in day to day performance being miniscule between generations, why do we want 108MP cameras, 100x zoom cameras, why do we want to take perfect pictures of the moon, why do we want 8K TV's, 4K laptops, why do we have 8K VR- we will need 16K for a more immersive experience according to Raja Koduri, head of GPU at AMD. Flagship features is one way to put it and the small difference in fidelity is worth it, it might be a 10-15% improvement from QHD to have UHD smartphones but for the same reason we want the best newest chip which is 15-20% faster- we should get the 4K resolution.

Will you ever spend $100 to get your battery replaced on S8 by Samsung premium service? I think not. You go to Best Buy to get it done for $50 and even that is a rip off and yet you don't get OEM battery.

Let me ask you this, do leakers know when the next Xperia device is coming out, do they know what it will bring to the table- no. The amazing ability to watch a Sony Xperia reveal and see some of the best features hit market, be that a gorgeous color accurate 4K HDR display- especially attuned to be the best smartphone display, especially watching Netflix (ties in well with creator mode). A flagship with dual front facing speakers and a headphone jack, the worlds first 4K 10-bit 120fps HDR slow motion smartphone camera and the worlds first smartphone camera to capture 20fps burst photography. I won't bore a hater with specs, but Samsung will throw last years phone at you- cut a few features like expandable storage & a charger in the box and make it look new, only the Ultra is an upgrade but Sony offers the same camera array they have on the premium Xperia 1 lineup on the upper mid-range Xperia 5 lineup. Apple will literally throw last years phone at you and add a time of flight sensor. At least Sony is giving a competition and innovating, heck Samsung can still not record 4K 10-bit HDR in 60fps, whereas Sony not only does 60fps, but crushes it with 120fps. So look at your phone, what it offers and the latest Xperia device, watch out for the Xperia 1 III- see how many features Sony will have that cater to their target audience and how many of those are lacking in Samsung or Apple devices.

Like 2 years ago, replacing battery in iPhone XR was around 70€. Checked it recently and it was 110€ in same service center. That's quite a difference. I did find another one that had it priced at 90€. Phones older than XR 2 years ago had 50€ battery replacement. I thought price would go down for new models, instead it went up. Weird.
I follow 80% battery charge policy so I won't even have to replace battery in entire life of device.
