Honorable mention to the A6+ (2018), one of Samsung's last all metal devices.

All in all, I feel last year A-series were bad imo. They just pushed numbers but there was nothing groundbreaking on them

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2021How heavy is aluminium? Bigger phones also use more glass w... moreAccording to GSMA, my Redmi Note 5 weighs 186 grams. 5.99 inch screen, 18:9 screen ratio, and 4000 mAh battery. I don't recall about the dimensions.

Though I don't know how much aluminum contributes to phone weight in general, as I recall, most glass/plastic phones now weigh 190 grams or more, with much bigger screen, size, and battery. 200 grams or more seems to be normal nowadays, and that's plastic. However, well-build, plastic with good material can be durable too, Nokia phones of old come to mind.

I still have A5 (2017) that we bought in Dubai. It was 8k less when compared to Indian price. I still have it and use as a secondary phone. Apart from camera, chipset, rest of the featured were great. It had IP68 rating, Samsung Pay, sAMOLED, 424 PPI, 5'2 screen, flashlight which was brighter than Samsung Note 2 and S6E. Easy to use in one hand. Gone are the days of 5 or less than 5'5 inch screen.

Not only in Samsung, Xiaomi Redmi too. My Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera from 2018 has metal (aluminum) body, while this year's Redmi Note 10 Pro has plastic body. Back in 2016 to 2018, metal phones were quite a lot.

Nostalgia. Missed those days when galaxy A series was beautifully designed. Now ''modern'' galaxy A series are made with plastic which is ugly.

My first samsung phone, A7 2016 still working, for me is great design compare to other A series, just lack of storage and lack of software update, even A5 2016 get more that 3 years security update, A7 2016 only 2.5 years then no more update

Redmi is o... moreIn my opinion, if you need just a smart phones now, do not see the brand but look for the spec/features offered (and of course, the money you have to spend for a mobile phone). Note: we are talking about Android phone only.

In some countries, we may look for the brand as well because we need more values when selling our old phone.

I'm surprised not to see the Galaxy A8 (2018) or the Galaxy A8+ (2018) in this list. That is the last ever Samsung Galaxy A series phone to have an IP rating before the A52 and A72 comes in and also Samsung Pay with NFC and MST support.
