Well, no wonder. They need to start with management. Not releasing the successor to famous phone lines, such as the v60 successor, is a recipe for disaster, as a good version of that can make money, and if they wait they will have to expensively upgrade or scrap and replace the design, otherwise it will be out of date and diminish the brand.

They needed to scrap the dross, the many overlapping phones that shop were unlikey to stock the full range of, and go like Nokia in range size, rather than Samsung, a recipe for. The many phones were just not that interesting. They needed to invest in better higher featured phones. What about the intro android phone being small with 4k video and high end camera, low end data rates. A mid 48-64mp phone with 4k (and 6k windowed mode) with normal datarates, and high end with new top end full manual control camera and software office pack and new high end datarates recordable to external SSD or card via USB 3. Something like prosres or Black magic Braw video mode workalike, which can be a containerised (for speed) cdng/photos that pixels line up with underlying Bayer values, with metadata about visual look interpretation and pre assigned storage space (for speed). 8k video.

The V series was famous for video performance, and thickness shouldn't be the biggest concern when it can be used to add a lot of performance. Styling if the whole range should be upgraded sleekly. Old Apple like, multi channel audio and microphone socket, or USB option, for surround microphone. Latest range chipset, storage and chips. Best in class main sensor and zoom lens. Retain Chinese like pricing, but scrap the secondary interval display, and maybe use a secondary back display for styling themes and selfies. The idea is privacy business phone with great video camera with best features and pro video mode and control. A sleeker weather and water proof phone that can be sold with case to trades people and fleets, and through corporate front ends to these services, and through corporate and small business office and administration use.

You need management like that, but at this stage it's probably too late to ramp up for a V70, if they haven't done it already. It's management who decides what gets done and improved. I've been watching things diminish for years, wondering why?

end of an era for LG mobile, rather sad, hopefully some form of lg mobile will exist in future.

Possible companies that are shutting down their smartphone due to low sales are LG, Nokia and Sony. I feel sad with nokia since they are deemed to be the foundation of mobile phone brand. And there is no other line of business aside from mobile phones.

I just bought an LG G8 ThinQ since I love the idea of the z camera with hand ID and 3D face unlock. Too bad it might not get new updates or even basic customer support.

We have four serious smartphone brands anyway. Samsung Apple Xiaomi and OnePlus. Avoid others and enjoy. Sony and Nokia were good but not anymore.

I was a fan of HTC and my most fave model was Desire with optical "mouse". Then Samsungs hit the club in 2010s, and i predicted death to HTC in front of my HTC loving friends. They didn't believe, meanwhile I jumped on S plus, Note2, Note3, S6 Edge, S7, S7 Edge, S8, Note9, S10, Note20 wagon. Samsung brought the max potential to phones, it took all the best from other manufacturers, like waterproofness from boring Sonys, and keep inventing new stuff (task management additions were first there before Android, edge screen, SmartStay, spen). Rooted each of those phones.
What happened late, Samsung stopped giving people everything, and started taking features away, yet people still buy it. My Samsung peak was S7 Edge til today. I now alternate Samsungs with root friendly and very capable Oneplus. My prediction now is the top chinese brand will be Oneplus.
Sony is now trying to be the good guy on the block, making phones compact and with sd card, notification light. However you HAVE to be competitive in everything, especially cameras. So there's a little chance for turnaround, but with small sales, small investments it'll be difficult to catch up in the game.
As for LG, they were invisible and unattractive to me for the whole time, and it's hard to guess what is special about them. I've had just LG V30, it was cool. But they insisted on fingerprint in the back since, and next models didn't even sell broadly because not modern enough.
Rest in peace! Good news LG makes the top flagship of TVs!

just few weeks ago LG said they won't sale mobile division and will continue make new product,, and then they delay their product launch and then this sell talk.

                              why bother LG?

Latvis, 22 Mar 2021I wish before they shutdown they would release epic balance... moreYou really want this kind a phone today...

Today you can get a phone and charge it from 0-100% on 15 minutes, but you better like a huge brick and a tons heavy phone, so weird.

LG phones were dropping prices, that is why I decided to buy LG apart from the software (not the updates though, but I love the UI). The V60 was barely available here and the price wasnt dropping at all basically, so that is why I had to skip that one and I switched back to Samsung. The G7 is still like my second phone despite the dead battery. They need to make a reasonable priced upper midrange/flagship with their DAC and headphone jack and good camera's (that is why I skipped the Velvet, wide angle lower than the G7), plus they should update their phones for 3 years. But why is LG known for bad updates though while Motorola for example is worse? 😅
