FatShady, 22 Mar 2021no one is going to miss them, selling a midranger at flagsh... moreSo basically you are rooting for less competition and choice for a consumer. Unbelievable.
When you say they should concentrate at things they are best at, do you know what LG Mobile is the best at on the whole mobile market? Video recoding. No phone to this day can touch their 8K video recording on V60.

Mikele, 22 Mar 2021You're absolute right, LG phones and TVs are extremely... moreUpdates for what? You can't update the hardware you are stuck with it so what is exactly that you do expect from software? That new software update will make your panel display better image? It's not going to happen unless there is some bug in driver chipset that needs to be fixed.
C6 was a long time ago but it was a great midrange OLED TV at the time. There is zero reason to not enjoy it because there are no updates, that just doesn't make any sense.

Pawan, 22 Mar 2021They need to be aggressive to get the market share. Launch ... moreThey definitely had an opening to at least maintain a degree of presence just from that. I'm almost surprised there isn't a potential Indian buyer actually - they could claim the IP and the recognised non-Chinese brand power and build a made-in-India contender out of it for that market alone, possibly with some exports to the US where the brand still held clout.
Telling that the only market where they had any real presence was the one that literally banned Chinese phones though. They got outgunned badly in price/performance and didn't have Apple/Samsung levels of brand power to compensate.

They are the only responsibles of their own death. Motorola spends at least in my country plenty of money in marketing and they sell really good. If you have crappy underpowered midrange phones at least spend money in marketing. Thye don't even promote their flagships. They opened a division in charge of speeding up updates but the kept sending almost zero updates. I compare it with motorola because both were companies that once were top sellers but Motorola at least focused on midrange phones with competitive specs and prices. LG has overpriced and underpowered midrange phones and flagships that barely sells.
I hope someday they can return with a more competitive business model, but their people in charge were just unqualified to handle the company

Mikele, 22 Mar 2021You're absolute right, LG phones and TVs are extremely... moreTheir TVs are absolutely fantastic and amazing. The best out there by miles. Better than Samsung TVs. Their phones are shocking now and it's about time. They've been hanging around like a bad smell for a few years now.

It's really sad. We have four LG TVs in the house including a 45 and 55 inch TV and they're really great. They used to be excellent in this market too. To me the LG G5 was the nadir for them. In fairness, they went out on a limb. They tried something crazy, it didn't work out and they have never recovered. It's like Halle Berry after Catwoman. She was awesome, everyone fancied her and everyone wanted her in their movies. I can't recall one memorable movie since that movie but loads before it. People just don't forget big mistakes. LG have refused to adapt to the market, the competition, the needs of consumers. They buried the head in the sand. They made some decent phones in recent years but also a lot of trash. Problem is that for both the good ones and the trash, they were just asking for stupid money. They weren't where apple and Samsung were but they behaved like they were and then oppo, vivo, Xiaomi and do forth came along and undercut them and voila, they're done.

I wish before they shutdown they would release epic balanced power phone we all deserve (like in those old days when you got samsung Note 2 and could remove battery and replace it with epic zerolemon 9300mAh, that was great).

FatShady, 22 Mar 2021no one is going to miss them, selling a midranger at flagsh... moreIt's all because of stiff competition from Chinese Giants. They have taken the smartphone world by storm.
Gone are the days of Sony, LG, Motorola and others.

I'm sure it has to with their OS. Using Raw Android with touches is pretty much boring.
Well there's no shame Using MIUI, FAN, OXYGEN or developing one of their very own.
I'm might give them a boost. Well it's possible...???

Anonymous, 22 Mar 2021I think LG, Sony & HTC
need to understand they don... moreBoth do not have intentions of leaving.
Just LG.
People should stop being obssessed about number of devices sold and check if company is losing or making money.
Selling more does not mean OEM is making money.
LG sells more than many other like Sony, Htc, Meizu, Asus, OnePlus and Google. None of these plans to quit.

I think it's fine LG is leaving the mobile industry. Sony should be next. It comes down to Apple vs Samsung vs Chinese. I think LG should focus on other industries. Can't continue to hemorrhage money for the sake of a few core fans.
Moving forward, I'm using Pixel until Google discontinues the line. I know it isn't very popular and has issues but stick to Pixel for being the smoothest. For my other phone, it's becoming iPhone again. Easy to have their batteries replaced.
