The new Snapdragon 780G is a 5nm mid-range chip with flagship-grade modem

25 March 2021
It has a triple ISP and an NPU that is almost as fast as that in the 865/870. It features Kryo 670 CPU and Adreno 642 GPU.

Kemizee, 25 Mar 2021We are in the same boat then. I rarely use my phone camera ... moreand 5G also, what's the point of having a high speed internet connection outside your house, I just need the connection to be stable for calling and using Google Maps. 4G LTE or even 3G is enough for me. 5G equipment just cost more money and use more battery power. Mobile data is also much more expensive than WiFi

Muthu, 25 Mar 2021It was mainly due to inefficiencies with Samsung's fab... moreThrottling is because of the new architecture (ARM 8.4) and new core (cortex x1). Kirin 9000 has A78 cores and ARM 8.2 . So it didn't suffer any throttling. And if it is because of Samsung manufacturering defects then we will know by the performance of upcoming SD780G. It is also rumored that Kirin 9000L can be made on Samsung's node. Based on a single chip we shouldn't blame Samsung. Instead u should blame Qualcomm for giving us inferior chips.

              Anonymous, 25 Mar 2021The dimensity 800 isn't better than the Snapdragon 750... moreDimensity 800 have 4 Cortex A76 @ 2GHz
How can Snapdragon 7xx beat that?
              It's only slightly lower than SD855, CPU-wise!

              IF u mean Dimensity 800U / 720 / 700, then YES, I agree with u.
D 800U / 720 aren't better but most definitely on par with SD765/768, the 'former' leader in SD7xx lineup.
I have tried Redmi 10x personally (Dimensity 820 basically Dimensity 800+), and it's very impressive, performance wise; both CPU & GPU could do most of the demanding task u throw at it easily (even playing Genshin/Honkai Impact which are GPU demanding)

                Answer: 'Money. Ka-ching !!'
U actually answer correctly, but thinking backwards

Do u think SD660 is weak / failed product like SD810?
Nope, it's quite success, BUT Qualcomm downgrade SD6xx lineup in order to 'bump' the profit for the upcoming SoC, that's why SD6xx were rarely being used by OEM nowadays; it's 'abandoned' becuase Qualcomm wants 'Money. Ka-ching !! on weekly basis (didn't u say 'Like those weekly rectangular slabs'? What did those use the most? SD7xx SoC!

Blutbad-fuchsbau, 25 Mar 2021Have you at least tried a Snapdragon 765G phone? All phones... moreLOL...
ALL Snapdragon 7xx lineup have 2 Cortex A7x cores (big) + 6 Cortex A55 cores (LITTLE).
For the 765/768/780, Qualcomm employ the 'absurd' 1+1+6 config, not even 2+6

Do u know why Snapdragon is 'energy-efficient'?
Because the BIG cores are sleeping most of the time.
It ONLY running when u run GeekBench or Antutu.

Because 99% of the time it ONLY run the A55 cores, ofc it will be 'energy efficient'
And it's absurd, since u pay big money but only get 'half-baked' SoC which run full throttle for GeekBench

The dimensity 820, 800u and 1000 chipsets have not suffered from excessive overheating. In fact, I had the iqoo z1 and playing games like asphalt for over an hour I didn't feel bad heating issues. 2016, they had problems fair enough with the likes of the helio p20, p23, p25, x25, x27 but since the helio p60 and p70, up to the excellent G90T, G80 and G70 on to the dimensity chipset, there's not been issues. In fact their implementation of 5h has been praised as superior in terms of battery degradation and thermal reductions as a result as Qualcomm built their5g modems into the chipset with the SD855 and SD865 causing way more heat and battery drain with a 5g modem you couldn't basically turn off. Mediatek are not mugs anymore. Samsung are even starting to use their CPUs.
