Xiaomi to introduce revolutionary battery for Mi 11 Ultra and all-new in-house chip on March 29

26 March 2021
The power cell will be silicon-oxygen, while the chip is likely an ISP for the liquid lens.

I still use old Sony XZ1 with small 2.7 Ah battery which still lasts 6h of SOT (down from 7) after three years of use and with bright and power hungry display. The 18W QC fast change ain't that slow when you considered today's fast charge phone's actually use two separate battery cells (and 36W fast charging would still be something considered as rather fast). Don't expect greatness regarding software from Xiaomi, the budget priced hardware is already enough you get. For software you will need to work hard and do it yourself as I did (as a second developer for Mi Max). But that's days are long gone anyway.

The A1 was the best execution of Xiaomi to an Android One, and disappointingly, the A3 was totally the worst.
Ironically, they don't even receive updates any faster than customized Android from other brands like Samsung despite being Android One devices.
That lineup would just ruin their reputation, which can give an indication that their non-Android One devices are just as bad or maybe even worse because they are made by the same brand.

IpsDisplay, 26 Mar 2021So faster charging is pushing the development of battery ma... moreUnlike before, where manufacturers are using the same conventional Lithium design batteries and incorporating them with very high charging currents, this is definitely an improvement in terms of handling heat and electrical flow, which makes fast charging more sensible with this new type of batteries than by doing the same thing with the current ones we're using.

In any given case, if fast charging is not really unhealthy, then why are there no user feedbacks from fast charging users that their batteries are still as good as their first day of use?
On the other hand, I can see many Xperia users for 3 years reporting that their batteries are still at least 90% in maximum capacity due to Qnovo Battery Tech.
Even I could tell that my Xiaomi phone's battery has already degraded for years of usage, and that's just with 10W charger.

The important thing is that it wouldn't be Xiaomi's loss if those people don't like their products, but they would be paying ridiculously high prices from other brands for the same quality products as the cheaper ones from Xiaomi.

Still, credits to where it's due, Xiaomi really nails the hardware very well. They offer the best hardware at any price point, so to compensate for extremely great specs, they really had to cut down on the software side to make this possible.
Perhaps Xiaomi could be thinking that software issues are far easier to fix than hardware problems, so they'd rather focus more on the latter instead.

The current MIUI 12.1.6 EU ROM on my K30 5G has considerably high power consumption, hence why I can't enable its 120Hz display like I can when it was with its native China ROM.

If the Mi 11 Ultra has a massive battery like 6000mAh or 7000mAh, I definitely would love to see the new battery tech. For now, I won't embrace super fast charging.

Anonymous, 26 Mar 2021The solution is to start again, with a new OS+ full desktop... more Linux is the only light in the end of the tunnel.

But seriously the Mac OS is based on BSD, Android on Linux and thing's went bad in both cases so the industry/corporation's ain't those who will make it work. Do no evel is just a joke. Firefox effort failed if you remember. I whose XDA developer for years and as we used to state "we offer you a perfectly clean and safe ROM, what you choose to install on it is on your own", at its peak community used to offer CVE patches from both trees (Linux and Android) in only couple of hours but whole story failed down as you install Google apps, only couple of brave ones ever tried to live without it with F-Droid instead and if F-Droid and Open Source were more developed that could have worked for everyone. But enough rent about that.
Things you write about I used to eat for breakfast. Actually Commodore whose the worsest Z80 product regarding it's own software, something never finished but it whose cheap (300$ at a time). I made a Galaxy 24KB on my own, had couple of Spectrums (24, 48), Commodores (64, 128), CPC Schneiders (64, 128)... CPC 128 whose a perfection regarding Software. The small 8 bit guy (ZX80) gave birth to first real OS CP/M (DOS in stolen from Microsoft form), text processor, vector graphics manipulation software, object oriented programming languages, gaming on PC to gain a foot and it's not dead even today.

So plenty to write about for you and I can bet you still didn't even scratch the surface.
                    Best regards.

With complete privacy, no ads. You sell phones, charge an extra $1 to pay for it! Charge an extra $1 to make more profit.

It's pretty simple, you can start with the modern version of Firefox expanded to smart phone, and bigger version with full Linux ability, as a player, but maybe based on QNX or even Beos, of that is still an updated thing. All the Firefox apps will play on both.

Or, you can make something much better.

I write articles on commodore 64, with 64kilobytes. I've used full objected orientated operating system with productivity suite geoworks, which could fit a megabyte or so. Why does a productivity suite require hundreds of megabytes, and OS's gigabytes, and wordprocessor app 40MB, and apps seemingly 6-10x larger due to spying bloatware being many times bigger than the app part itself? All the restrictions and corrupt programs really take away from the experience.

and people will still says Chinese steal IP and copy from... err, not-yet-invented phones by pro-Western manufacturers

Do u know paper & cardboard?
What happen to it when u fold them?
The paper easily folded, even divided to two parts.
The cardboard? it's difficult to be folded because they are THICK, some cardboard even water-resistant, making it several times more durable than paper.

                                  Too hard to understand?
Just go to Utube & see JettyRig reviews of the latest ipad pro which is absurdly thin.
See how easity he 'folded' it despite 'ALL metal' structure they advertised.

                                  STILL too unbelivable?
Do u know the old Nokia? Have they EVER made any thin product?
Even when Microshit acquired Nokia, ALL Lumias they made are reasonably thick.

I'd even get 15mm thick Android phone with 10,000mAh battery, microSD, 3.5mm jack, and NO protruding stove which is annoying as it's ugly as hell & makes the phone wobble.

I have no hate to MIUI I love the Animations but I think most people would like the Mi A series phones but sadly I don’t think Xiaomi is going to make any if they do it will be good because the Mi A3 had Android One UI

If they will be ban in us again because will grow up and overtake Samsung and apple, than we all know it's just about the money not how's better! (If I remember correctly Samsung was the first company to take bullets after passing apple, than was xiaomi, than Huawei, now again xiaomi)
Hope this new ultra from xiaomi will be the best phone on the market in 2021 and other will learn from them!
Hope again we will heave other software in phones, no more ios and android, than we will see real challenges! (I prefer one software for all phones in the world but sadly they don't agree with us. )
