They would rather need an f-number of 1.2 or 1.1, but this can lead to worse image quality. With a larger sensor, it is possible to produce sharper lenses that give you the same field of view and same effective diameter.

Main lens distortion is very noticeable on every flagship on the market now, with Apple doing better than most to limit it.

I would have understood if they would have required some 65W+ charger, because those can be more expensive. But for 20-30W chargers you can get good ones with maximum 20EUR.
I like the idea of no chargers in the box. And the boxes are quite small and nice. Anyway, in the future there will be even port less iphones, so this will be the trend in 2-3 years. Just MagSafe charging.

Nick Tegrataker, 31 Mar 2021All right, but how about focusing on increasing the sensor ... moreRegarding light per time it is nearly irrelevant whether you use a better f-number or a larger sensor area with the same f-number (not increased) at the same field of view. In both(!) cases the effective diameter of the lens increases by the same factor.
The only(!) reason why cameras with large sensors often capture more light per time at the same field of view is that cameras with large sensors use lenses that have a larger effective aperture diameter. A sensor can only capture the light that goes through the lens. A 7mm lens with an f-number of 1.8 has an effective diameter of 7/1.8 mm, which leads to more light per time per angle than a 5mm lens with an f-number of 1.5, no matter which sensor size.
Nonetheless, a larger sensor can be useful because it improves the base Iso quality as small sensors + low f-number must use a shorter exposure time in perfect light conditions, this leads to less light.

beep bop boop, 31 Mar 2021f/1.5, jeez imagine the bokehIt's a common misunderstanding that the f number describes the aperture size. But the effective diameter is focal length/f-number. A 5mm lens with an f-number of 1.5 rather leads to less blur than a 7mm lens with an f-number of 2.0, if the field of view is the same. A larger effective diameter also leads to more light per time per angle.
