"They should be this level of craziness and indulgence that makes people pine for them. They are the supercars of smartphones. They're not supposed to make sense. And the Mi 11 Ultra gets it"
The iPhone certainly is no supercar. It's a joke with outdated cheap parts.

Anonymous, 01 Apr 2021TF are you typing about? Mi 11 ultra is already cheaper tha... moreThis is wrong.
*First, ONLY Apple users will buy the small body version, and among casuals people, many still despite Apple.
*Second, it doesn't need to break sells record to still be profitable, that's why Luxury exist.
*Third, the iPhone SE is a big contender to this one, which have the same high-end chipset.
*Fourth, the regular iPhone 12 is still small and have a much greater value for its cost.
*Fifth, you are assuming that size is the ONLY thing that make someone take a phone over another, why is everytime that there is something about X or Y feature, people act as if it was the only thing that someone would look after?
*Sixth, it is still quite expensive.
*Seventh, regular iPhones already have a tiny battery compared to Android, only their power optimizations (software and hardware) make them able to get greater time per capacity compared to Android, otherwise they would fall super short.
And rather than making the smart move and to increase thickness to compensate, this stupid ultra thin obsession, despite being non-ergonomic, make them keep the same 7,4mm thickness, which is too thin for many, and cause to have a ridiculously small 2227mAh capacity in a world where battery capacity may be one of the biggest complaint by everyone, mainly when it comes to Apple, and that they still require the user to use special cable.

beep bop boop, 01 Apr 2021"And take advantage of the vastly superior main camera... moreYou are part of those people criticizing anything that doesn't match your tastes and stating that no one want X or Y feature that isn't part of your tastes or the only style/design/feature set we got available, that's how many features disappeared.
Is it so hard to just lets people with different tastes having their stuff without trying to complain about it as if it would make the phones you like disappear?
Because meanwhile, your tastes are what caused their favorite one to disappear in the first place.
The Irony is that many of those acting like that actually complain about people like me, saying that "I complain on every phone", because, yeah, those are so much the same that it is impossible to find anything else, who in its right might would point out someone that says that he is tired every phone are the same?
They are actively preventing what everyone who has different taste from what the market offer to get one, and they have the arrogance to BOTH complain about ANY proposal by anyone that isn't exactly what they like (smaller phone, thicker phone, no front camera, a single main camera, 3.5mm Jack, bezel, pop up, second display on the back, SD card slot, regardless what it is, as long as it isn't part of what mainsteam offer or their own tastes, they'll criticize others for wanting that), and at the same time say that those people complain too much about how smartphones are...
See the problem now? You are part of it, why would you complain that I ask for a Mi 11 Ultra "special edition" with a flat display, no front camera and a 3.5mm Jack?
Still, buying something like the mirror I showed you allow to have a non-butchered display, more privacy, less expensive phone, while still being able to do video calls.
There is like half of the population who is introverted and don't give a damn about video call, and even in the extroverts people many also don't care, which is THE VAST MAJORITY of people, even including that the pandemic forced many to do face calls.
And ANYWAY, making SOME phones without front camera wouldn't prevent anyone to still buy one of the bazillion other phone that still has one, on the other hand, this is a popular request that has yet to be filled.

beep bop boop, 01 Apr 2021oh please, its not even that dramatically curved, look at t... moreThere isn't any "it isn't that curved", a curve is a curve, even 2.5D displays are problematic for many people as it prevent to hold the phone in certain ways.
Because outside your own little personal world, there are differences in taste and needs.
The 3.5mm Jack is both a taste AND a need, some people do use it for some scenario that can't be done otherwise, it isn't just a headphone plug, it is an analogic connector, which is the ONLY ONE available on smartphones, and you know what is great about it, if we can just "ignore" the curves of the display, then we can even more ignore the Jack, LITERALLY it doesn't do anything to someone who don't want it, but requiring it and not having this as an option DO get on the negative side of things.
Not everyone is into video calls, in fact I've almost never seen anyone doing it from their phone, people usually do it from their tablet which have a bigger display, or from their laptop or desktop computer, or, even from their TV.
And c'mon, just buy a thing like this :
https://walyou.com/wp-content/uploads//2010/12/OneMoreFace-3.jpg
And take advantage of the vastly superior main camera rather than forcing people to have stupid ugly holes in their displays who ruin a lot of things including privacy.
That you like it or not, this display is there, and if like the Nubia Z20 they could make another phone with a bigger display and yeet the front camera, it would be great.
Meanwhile, regardless YOUR tastes, many would appreciate if a variant of the M11 Ultra with a flat display, no front camera or a bezel or a pop up and a 3.5mm Jack was made.

Jacktackle, 01 Apr 2021You pls go for iPhone. Flagship is all about good looking BS, Flagship is about top end features and experience, if it was about appearance they wouldn't have a camera bump in the first place and rather than the stove they would use a Meizu 17 Pro like design, same thing for the ugly hole.
Also, curved edge display are ugly and a nightmare for many users.
There is a HUGE lack of flagships without this horror.
The Ultra with no front camera, a flat display and a 3.5mm Jack would have been a MASSIVE hit.
Additionally, put an Ultrasonic FPS under the display and give to the Telephoto both a Macro and Portrait secondary mode, and I would have tried to buy it despite the ridiculous price.

beep bop boop, 01 Apr 2021could u explain plsThe K40 isn't badly priced, I should've specified that. But the highest up you go in the lineup the worse the pricing gets. It's around a 30% price increase just to upgrade to the K40 Pro with the only upgrades being the main camera sensor and an upgrade to a more unstable yet slightly faster chipset.

Xiaomi is doing great in term of putting as much as possible technologies inside their smartphones. Very good for consumers. However, their software is still far behind from what Samsung, Sony and other mainframe companies are giving. So there is no point to buy high end devices from Xiaomi. Their software is good till the midrange devices, not further.
