LG is officially out of the smartphone business

they cant fight with chinese phone.. what else they can do except giving honest price?

    As someone living in the US where barely any of the Chinese brands not named OnePlus have good enough bands for proper use out here, this absolutely sucks.

    We have only Motorola, Scamsung, Apple, and OnePlus for flagships. I don't like any of them....

I personally don't mind Chinese products but I know very well why they are so cheap. Thou things will change in EU since they will have to pay proper taxes in order to sell their products here. and when they have to pay taxes like everyone else, offer local customer support and warranty their price advantages disappear. Huawei was literally the only Chinese brand that did it right. their flagships were expensive but they sold because people trusted the brand. Xiaomi, realme, Oppo are getting better however they still aren't there. And by the time they get there they wont be that much cheaper than Samsung.

          I have been an LG fan for years and these news made me really sad. I think LG has produced good phones but unfortunately its brand was not appealing to many people.

                I used Optimus G, G2 and currently typing this from G7. All great phones. I think some Trojans from rival brands caused bad decisions in LG mobile.

                LG should come back with aggressive pricing especially in medium to high segment devices like OP9 and iPhone 11. Bad decision to quit.

That always turns great for a consumer. If there was no LG there would be no 9:18 and taller aspect ratios, they were the first one to do it and stick with it. With no more LG there will be no evolution of the best video capture on mobile to date (V60). No more dedicated DACs inside the phones. Best of all there would be no cheap OLED panels to go to every 300 device that's on sale now that buys from Chinese display manufacturers who indeed do owe it LG.

                        With their atrocious stance on software updates, it's about time they leave. I intend to keep my LG V50 for a long time though.

                            This is sad 😥! Just can't imagine not seeing new LG phone in the market! I've been using LG phones for the past thirteen years and I've never been disappointed. LG Phones will greatly be missed!.

                              Oh no, so sad I've enjoyed owning a few LG phones over the years namely the LG shine, LG G2. Hopefully some day they make a comeback.

They all come from same ODM factories, all the low end Chinese stuff together with low end LG, Nokia and Samsung. There are less than 10 ODM factories that make all those devices for them. The only thing that's custom is back panel where they get to pick color, finish and camera stack casing. Difference is in pricing, Chinese get extreme subsidies from the government while others not so much.

                                  finally. i have waited a long time for this to happen. they should have saved a lot of money getting out of the business a long time ago. didn’t really expect anybody to like LG except for the few who appreciated some features put in like DAC and the like. i thought LG had one of the worst user and after sales support for companies positioning their products as premium. for me, it actually looked like they never knew why their phones didn’t sell well. customers are your reason for being, LG. and cellphone buyers maybe just got tired of telling you what they didn’t want with your products and services. after sales services, especially.

It isn't, it is just a bit more complicated and since chinese companies are not able to deal with complications, they also don't use any protection. That's why they never can be equal to proper smartphone elite such as Samsung or Apple. The only thing the poor chinese can do is mix some components together. No own invention, no development, just useless crap.

                                        Sony smartphone will be next
                                        Not very good camera
                                        Slow updates ( my friend got xperia 1 mark 2 and sony update schedule is worst among other brands )
                                        Simply sony just got some die hard fans in GSMArena
                                        ( and probably most of them don't have latest Sony smartphone or it's not available in their regional )
