NeonHD, 05 Apr 2021Wtf, this is truly a sad moment in history..... heartbreaki... moreFYI, LG has not gone bankrupt. They are making healthy profits, although not in their cellular phone business where they are losing money. I would have to disagree with the positive things you said about LG, especially when you said they listen to customers. Maybe in your part of the world they do but not in mine. That’s why LG hasn’t made a mark where I’m from. Nobody mentions LG around here. My experience with owning an LG phone was frustrating enough. But I tried to give it another shot when i was looking for a midrange phone. And that did it for me as i found out that what i can buy for my money on an LG phone, I can get better specs from other brands. LG IS JUST NOT WORTH IT. In a competitive market, the ones that are not worth it just die! Their exit from the cellphone business is just a testament to this. LONG LIVE LG TV’s.

So much sadness about a mobile company who failed to deliver and refused to adapt to the times. Some of you praise LG too much for some their older headsets, like G3/G4/.. Yes, they had some really nice features back then. But I guess you forgot about the boot loops, about the *promises* on the SW updates (which *never* came), overheated SOC's which prematurely lead to battery issues, broken displays, broken batteries. I enjoyed my G4 back then...until it broke...two-three times in a row after a month of using it. Plus the batteries I had to replace since all of them were having issues due to the hot SOC. But yes, the camera was surprisingly good even for current times, as well as the sound quality.
LG lacked consistency and promised software/security updates which they failed to deliver. Their mobile division struggled for many years, yet they did not manage to do something about it. I find it hard to believe the Group did not have he resources to re-think everything.
Sure it's a pity they dropped the mobile business. That means less competition to Chinese toysets which fragmented the market for the past few years. The tons of Chinese headsets with minor differences between them will ultimately eat up the huge slice Apple and Samsung are sharing. Divide and conquer. That's why the likes of Xiaomi&co are releasing so many headsets with similar features and minor differences between them. Once they reach their targeted market share, the strategy will change. Just look at OnePlus' evolution for the past 5 years.

I absolutely loved my LG Flex 2. The only curved screen that really made sense unlike present curved screens at the edges. Unfortunately it just died one day. I went with OnePlus 5T that serves me until today.

Misfit2Fields, 05 Apr 2021What phones is it running longer than with a bigger battery... moreI can easily dare to say that 84h of endurance rating with a true 4K screen display resolution is absolutely excellent. Even Samsung couldn't go further enough with the S20 Ultra and also the Note20 Ultra despite having a much bigger battery and lower screen resolution than the Xperia 1 ii.

Also, let's not forget the Xperia 5 ii, which also has the same battery capacity as the 1 ii but with a much more sensible true FHD screen. Despite the 120Hz refresh rate, it did clock 102h, which is definitely on par with other flagship smartphones with FHD+ screen like the LG V60 and also the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G.

hmm, 05 Apr 2021Only innovation left in smartphones are the phones that can... moreIs this innovation though? They're just packing in more features for a better price. They're not bringing new features to the market. Some people say that the pocophone F1 was innovation. I don't believe so. It was clever. I suppose that it was an innovative approach by reducing the quality of certain features so that the main features of the phone could be upscaled to the best out there. But it's not feature innovation. What are the latest feature innovations? NFC, dual screen, OIS, EIS, dual app, WiFi direct, WiFi calling, stereo speakers, dual speakers, wireless charging, reverse charging, fast charging, casting and WiFi assist. I suppose Volte as well. These were great but I'm struggling to think of anything recent. It's a shame but it's not like the laptop. You can innovate probably much more with a laptop The one feature I have not witnessed yet and I am unsure if it's possible to implement this in smartphones but I don't think I have seen a dual boot smartphone yet. Smartphones cannot be improved on too much I feel but the answer is not to just throw out imitation after imitation daily.

My choice for not liking china brands is purely political, since I live in an ex-commy country.
To put it simple, I'd rather use a 20 year old Nokia 3310 or a pen and a paper than one of those..

The one industry I've shifted my focus on is fitness trackers. Perhaps LG can enter that although the market is cornered by Fitbit which is now owned by Google.

I think fitness trackers are more disposable than smartphones. They're similar to AirPods and such. After a couple of years, we throw them away. But it's an industry that needs more improving as they all inaccurate.

Fitness trackers at least builds mostly good lifestyle habits. Smartphones in general don't. People want to live longer. Not stare at screens all day.

I will soon get a V60 to upgrade my V40 that has been a wonderful phone during the last year. They should have focused on flagships only where they can compete. Their midrange phone were a real disaster. Almost two years reusing the same Helio P22 and P35 chipsets in all midrange phones. They could have copied the Motorola's business model and abandon certain devices to focus on a few ones and once they are competitive again then go back to them (In this case just focus on Velvet, V60 sucessor and wing/foldable)
