Report: Sony continues to lead the smartphone image sensor market, Samsung is in second place

Sony lost sales due to the lower shipments of one of its key partners - Huawei. 

Sort by:

Sony has increased the market share to 46% from 44%. Samsung has reduced from 32% to 29%. Omnivision up from 9% to 10%. In other words, Sony and Omnivision have up their market share. Samsung has lost more market share despite smartphone image sensor market grew to $15 billion last year, up 13% year over year

    Sure Sony continues to lead the smartphone image sensor market but with current approach they will never gonna lead smartphone market inself or even come out of 1% of the smartphone market share.

      Still can't get their own software right.... 🤔🤔 😝😝😝

          now imagine a ov50c, with 1/1.12 or 1/1.20 size, a direct competitor to the gn2 and imx800.

          maybe a 100mp sensor, but not the one's like samsung's which has a useless 9-in-1, which outputs 12mp, i'd prefer 2x2 instead, with a much higher detailed and higher resolution 20mp+ images.

              I usually root for the underdog, but Sony sensors are far superior to Samsung ones.

                I want Samsung to match or exceed Sony

                And omnivision to step up their games, so far they are only supplying Ultra wide and useless depth cameras

                    Samsung going with one sensor rule them all
                    Sony uniquely going with custom sensor as their customer requested it

                    Samsung may have lower market share but they may have better margin per sensor sales.

                      I wish omnivision had more of the pie

                      Their sensors are better than samsung
