This is a good spec. Period. Just hope Sony is wise about its price, otherwise there's a lot of competition to lose for.

i0S.-.Never.-.Again, 14 Apr 2021Spec sheet argument is out of the window in 2021. Stop rep... moreSnapdragon 690 has cortex A77, 765 has cortex A76. While sd 765 has better multi core and gpu, SD 690 has slightly advantage in single core related activities.

SD 780 and 860 are superior.

And it's Sony I hope they will unlock it for sailfish.

Snapdragon 690 combined with ufs 2.1/2.2 can't compete performance wise.

Scrolling through whatsapp?? If that is what this phone is for, then you might as well put a 720g like Galaxy A52 and call it a day or price the phone at 200 Euro, not above 350 Euro.

Is obvious that whoever wants to buy a new phone will probably buy it in February-May when the majority of releases take place. And then comes Sony releasing their models in June-August, lol.
I mean I get it "patience is a virtue" and "good things comes to those who wait", but this is a little too much I think.

More than the SoC is that for 450 - 550 euros they ask for a mid-rangers, they don't offer enough good cameras. Not even night mode. Then add the chipset, slower charger...

For 250 - 300 euros you already can buy a good phone. If you enter in the premium price range for a mid-range phone or a previous year flaship phone. You want something more that what Xperia 10 III offer. Another problem with them is that their phone are available too late when prices from other brands already have dropped enough to be a lot more attractive and letting you to buy a better phone that what Sony finally offer for the same price.

Stop rep... moreBut that's the thing brother, if we are talking about midrangers 870 chip inside a midranger doesn't do nothing that 690 can't other than maybe better gaming. But since screen is most likely only FHD+ I find that debatable as well. 870/888 exists solely because of cameras as cameras are the most demanding features inside a phone. That's it. That's all 870/888 does besides some theoretical faster modem speeds. If a phone doesn't have a demanding camera setup it doesn't need 888 nor 780. Everyday scrolling of WhatsApp messages is exactly the same on 690 and 888. What makes the apps open faster is storage controller and you can bet your money midrangers will not have a quality UFS 2 let alone UFS 3.

Everyone wants the latest and greatest for their money SD 690 is for devices around 300-600. SD7XX is for 400-600 (kinda like the Samsung A series or Pixel 5)

If you want even more bang for your buck, just get a Chinese phone (Not bashing on them as it's a no brainer to get the most out of your $$)

The SD690 is not a bad chipset by any means, but in a way he is right too. If Sony will price this at around 400EUR (which they probably will), at that price point you can even find a SD865 phone from Xiaomi. Not that I recommend Xiaomi over Sony (as a brand), but SD865 (even SD855+) over any other SD7xx or SD6xx is a no brainer.

Sony's long been distancing itself from the Australian market, yes TV and Camera offerings are readily available still (Albeit at extortion level mark up prices), but the loyal Xperia supporters and fans (Xperia fans/Sony fans alike) throughout the Great Southern Land have seen product availability and support dwindle away now for years, sadly to non existence in most cases nowadays. The premium price at one time, and for many years, was justified away by a premium build and feature rich product, backed by a premium brand known for quality. That's not the case these days, and even for die hard Sony fans, it's difficult to find any reason to try to source a way to purchase their products.
It's truly an unfortunate and massive fall from grace, by the once mighty, almost legendary, Sony Corp.
I sincerely hope they plan to return to the lofty heights they once held in this region, though I doubt they'll be at all concerned with a full exit from this small market where they'd already given up a reasonable market share, and would need to recapture that for any future success, or at least, any lucrative returns if that's their only measure of success.
RIP Xperia and Sony mobile Australia.
                      You'll be missed.

Snapdragon 765 is the the bottom of the barrel, if one is getting a phone at that price.

This is just a simple, elegant and practical smartphone with pricing yet to be revealed. HRR panel, Snapdragon 7x or 8x expectations, etc. vs IP rating, 6xx SD, ample battery and clean Android with sprinkle of Sony can co-exist peacefully. Kindly, stop your judgment if this is of no value or interest. As simple as that and enjoy your device.

Hopefully, I'm able to see a higher jump on Endurance Rating in 10 III than it was on the 10 II (92 hr) as an additional 900 mAh is a bigger upgrade in capacity than the one in OG 10 to 10 II, and able to passed 100hr+ ER this time, as 10 II was so close to reaching that mark. SD690 5G is an efficient chipset, to begin with. And no, Sony already achieves 100 hr+ ER a few times like the Z3 Compact, XA2 Ultra, XA2 Plus, XA1 Plus, XZ1 Compact, Z4 Tablet, and recently, 5 II. Hopefully, it can be another additional proof to "zipped" the users who claimed Sony never reached 100hr+ ER in the past.

Sony is premium. If you want to judge by xiaomi standards, consider that, they also do raise prices.

I think worst part about this phone will be again availability, even if wasn't rather expensive, releasing phone months late will kill sales surely. A lot of people will consider other phones, and then simply will be an old news. I don't understand, what Sony is doing here.

The Snapdragon 690 is inferior to other CPUs available inside phones at the price.
