Lemme tell you something, why don't you google, reddit or search for youtube videos where Xperia 1 II compared to other brands like Apple?? Do mind to go look taken by Professional photographers and not some vague users or reviewers.

DxO is not even a credible source. You don't even know how they were shooting and in what conditions or settings they were shooting (not like you are there while they shooting). For better knowledge I suggest you to go to YouTube and search for videos where Xperia 1 II is compared to other smartphones especially by "Professionals". Real photographers and not some vague reviewers.
I suggest you do that and come here.

Mi 11 Ultra or Huawei p40 pro/mate 40 Pro Plus/mi 10 ultra can give you Dslr level photo though.
Sony camera quality behind all other flagships, in Auto mode as well as pro mode.

These Sony fannboys are always repeating the company's marketing points like the Eye AF, 21:9 aspect ratio, pro mode app.
Maybe all these guys are on the payroll. Not one of them has an actual Sony device from this year or last year.

Those are very expensive. No need to buy expensive smartphone. Those Xperia phones are not come in with 120W charger. Time is running fast, ride a bike also like a MotoGP style in a road, ride a car like Fast Furious, so charging speed should be super sonic, minimal 80W, not 30W anymore. Time is speed now.

The difference is that you can take pictures how you want to portray without needing to edit or without post process after taking a picture how AI feels good.
The difference is HDR or DRO can be tunred off and on manually in addition to AUTO HDR in available settings. Trust me you don't want HDR ON while doing 20fps burst.

Also they integrated default camera app into their Pro app this year. This is the reason I ask people to pay attention while watching their video or announcement to every detail. Now you have additional BASIC mode addition to AUTO mode in PRO app.

Sony phones are really good. But how am I supposed to know what is meant by 10 III or 5 III? Naming scheme of most other electronics really pisses me off.
Thanks to Samsung and Xiaomi. At least they didn't do so for smartphone department. Xiaomi's rebranding doesn't bother me as most phones in my country are launched under the same series.

wongwatt, 19 Apr 2021I own the phone that's got the same cameras as DxOMark... moreYou may be able to see it with your own eyes but when I looked at the photo samples between Huawei, Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, Sony.... even going back to my old Galaxy Note 4 they are all exceptional photos and not one is better than the other by any regard. Maybe the iPhone is more clear on the dollar bill but the muted colors ruin it for some.
The Note 4 vs the P40... The Note 4 has way better color`s (for me). Based on the Non Scaled sample the p40 has a very pale yellow, the red is more pink than anything and the magenta is almost purple. Where as the Note 4 they look how I imagine they should look.

Assuming what you're saying is true, the way Sony suddenly stopped sending them a unit after DxOMark changed the testing protocol makes me strongly wonder why Sony suddenly lost their confidence on the camera performance (especially after topping the chart for a year or so).

And what kind of difference do you think would've made if they had done that? IIRC Photo Pro app doesn't have HDR turned on by default and lacks auto night mode/multi frame NR as well so Xperia would've scored much lower if they had used the app for the test.

Xiaomi with the ads needing to be turned off and Huawei with the side loading of google apps.

While understandably given their low volume, using the same SoC over two phones will save them some R&D cost, but as a result it a near over-lapping product and hard to justify of the price. If the Xperia 5 III price is to be the same as mentioned, it really disappoint coming from Mark II.

Shoot anything with 1 II or 5 II, go to ex. snapseed, tick pop filter twice in a row, and voila...a photo with all the todays "top quality standards" of oversaturation, overshapening and overcontrast.
Yes, its that easy to be a top camera phone today. Just two easy snap pops away.
