Let's be clear about wireless charging :
Like many things, it is a matter of tastes, not everyone uses their phone the same way or have the same tastes and habits.
Some prefer having a nice fast charging that they can plug and unplug in a matter of minutes, others prefer the convenience of just putting the phone down without having to deal with cables.
There isn't any ultimate truth, what there is though, is the more phone that don't have wireless charging mean the less those who like it will be able to find one that has this feature while it is basically doing absolutely nothing to those who don't care about it :
It takes a tiny footprint and is quite cheap.
It is the EXACT same thing as the Jack, a good DAC that come with it, IR Blaster, SD card slot, etc.
Those are things that can be perfectly ignored by those who don't want them, they aren't taking any relevant amount of space nor add significant cost, something like the Poco F2 Pro is a hard proof of that in many ways as it has as much battery capacity of phones with the same dimensions of its period and was one of the cheapest SD865 smartphone available despite having many features like this.

If a phone maker justify removing wired charging "because there is wireless charging", then yes, it will be more than legit to complain about it if they try to make it a trend (and not just for a single "wireless edition" phone), but having more options is always better, mainly now that phones have too much of a similar design and it is already hard to find something else, better have many options that one may want rather than scattering even more the choice and leaving those who want it unable to find their dream device.

As someone who would want a Poco F2 Pro's like smartphone with a Telephoto rather than the Depth Camera and an Ultrasonic underdisplay FPS, but there are literally none available, I know what I am talking about.

If a feature isn't intrusive for a user, it should be always put on the phone except if there are extremely tight budget restriction (low end phone) or it is physically not possible (ultra-thin smartphone).

YUKI93, 17 Apr 2021IP rated phones killed by water? Well count me out as I fre... moreI didn't say that every phones that are IP rated fail, the IP rating itself doesn't make the phone more or less water-resistant, the issue is mainly that indeed there are a quite big number of IP rated phones that still has issues and some like you can go scuba diving without issues.

Here is a great video talking about it :
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDXxM-mCWFg

The issue is that many think IP rating = waterproof because of stunts like those, or the time Apple and Samsung made their commercials showing the phone being used underwater.
It would be if commercials for airbags showed that regardless what impact you have you'll always survive, well, in reality, airbag or not some crashes are still lethal.

Anonymous, 17 Apr 2021Let's hope they keep the mechanism or under display ca... moreMechanism, there are already too many brands trying to make underdisplay camera, and moving camera that allow for privacy are disappearing, and the flip up is unique as it uses the main cameras, so lets hope they won't get to the underdisplay path, or make a special model alongside with the one with the flip up!
But it is best for everyone that they don't replace the flip up by underdisplay, the underdisplay camera is NOT a replacement for pop up and flip up!

Still using the ZF6, which is a great phone, but so far feel like ASUS are treating cellphone market as a hobby. ZF6 sold for about 3 months before it got discontinued in the USA! Can you imagine iPhone or Samsung would stop manufacturing and remove a phone from all stores after 3 months?
Not to mention, when my phone had a charging issue under warranty I had to ship it out for a month, and fall back to an old, barely working phone for a month. My phone IS the lifeline of my business, and ASUS would not send a refurbished unit, even for fee or deposit!

YUKI93, 17 Apr 2021Lol please, nice and comfortable my arse! You can't ev... moreyou are so blind guys! you can't see how much comfortable is just placing a phone on a dock rather than plugging and unplugging always the cable lol.
who cares if I can't use it while wireless charging? i charge overnight when i do NOT use the phone... and i connect the charger to a very slow usb socket so it charges as slow as possible without damaging the battery.
i don't care about super fast wired charger, I'd never use wired fast charge here.

and you forget who uses wireless charge inside a car for example. your can just place phone on the dock (with one hand!), and every time you have to grab it no need to unplug and replug (that would require you using two hands).

and last but not least, using the cable you can sometime also ruin or damage the usb plug on the phone... you've never seen/had a phone with broken usb port? your are lucky then. it is very very frustrating you can trust me.

i can understand you don't like/use it.. but saying it is as useless as curved displays....looool

i 100% agree curved edges are a marketing useless thing, never had a curved display here in fact and will never have.. but don't even compare that to wireless charge please..
              cheers blind friends...

YUKI93, 17 Apr 2021About laptops without a card reader, I do have to disagree ... moreThat could be because it might be using 2.4 GHZ band, which would explain the slower speeds. It makes sense for people with DSLR, but people using a real camera are not very common, atleast not where I live. Maybe that's why we see card readers being removed.

Though I agree with you, if I was using a camera, I'd miss the card reader too.

My old DSLR camera did have a wireless transfer function, but the transfer speed was so slow that I ended up aborting it and transfer the pics using my laptop's built-in card reader. The transfer speed through the reader was so fast that I ended up disabling the camera's wireless transfer function altogether. Sure that most slim laptops of today sacrifice the card reader, but there are a bunch of reputable and well-received USB-A/USB-C/Thunderbolt hubs out there, so not all is lost.

Let's hope they keep the mechanism or under display camera. If it has a punch hole it's just like the rest of them, except for the size. I am waiting for this one.

I'm really tired of companies pushing misleading terms like wireless charging when it's actually all wired. Totally false advertisement so that they can increase the price of the phone. That's why I hate the tech reviewers, they'll trick their viewers into believing that a certain feature is a must when actually it's pretty useless. The other thing they do is criticise a laptop without card reader. See, I get it, you're a youtuber, and your work requires cameras and transferring videos / images from your digital camera (which doesn't have wifi). But majority of users don't need a device with card reader. Heck I've never met someone in my life who'd make use of the card reader in their laptops. I've never used the card reader in my laptop, and by the time I buy a Camera, hopefully technology would have moved to a point where those expensive cameras have wireless transfer.

Well count me out as I frequently use my phone on water conditions. Heck, even my friend's 2018 Sony phone still working well and he's a swimming trainer. Frankly, the time where we only see IP-rated phones killed by water is because smartphone brands cut corners with the construction.

While my phone does have a wireless charging feature, I never even use it once. The fact that I still have to connect the wireless charging brick to a socket really defeats the whole point. Frankly, I'd just stay wired.

Just let it be small and compact.. Under 150mm

I would love if Asus could make a jumbo version too. 7.2 inch.

After the huawei mate20x there hasn't been any jumbo phone, except for odd gaming phones.

I'm not plugging any wires into my phone, just placing the phone the same way I would do on a wireless charger. See, I don't use a phone that has wireless charging support. A dumb user who's trying to know the benefits of wireless charging. How are you gonna sell me a more expensive phone, which requires me to buy a separate wireless charger? Even if it's just a lifestyle choice, it should bring something to the table (well ofcourse something else than a wireless charger on my table).

See I'm not critising anyone who already owns a wireless charger and is into that ecosystem. Just asking why a new user should go with such a lifestyle?
