Phones la... moreWell for that, Asus Phones (and Sony Phones) have a feature that can slow down the charging rate, and also a feature which stops charging before it reaches 100%, increasing the longevity of battery. I don't think wireless charging, which heats up the battery will be beneficial for the longevity, that's the reason they limit the charging rate for wireless charging.

But as you said, it's a lifestyle choice, and sort of luxury. It'll surely annoy those who've been wireless charging for years. But someone who hasn't used it (or rarely uses it), addition of wireless charging won't bring any practical benefits.

Phones last for a full day without charging. So just place on the wireless charger for the night.
It slowly charges up overnight. Saving battery max capacity. No need to plug in during the day.

Or maybe, you use your phone on transit, once you reach office or home, you dock it on a wireless charger, while you concentrate on desktop, while your phone is just standby.

Basically I find wireless charger is for person with more wealth or better life style. If your work is hard labor.. or you have to be consistently on your phone.. and without a desktop. I guess it will not work.

Anonymous, 16 Apr 2021That's my point. A mini / compact will be much more ap... moreThe opposite is also true. Thode buying a midgrange phone and are not specs geeks would want everything grand in their phones. They are the ones who are gonna say things like, "X brand is giving larger screen for lesser price, you're cutting screen size and charging more".
Someone who knows what they want, is likely to buy a mini phone than a common midrange lover. Mini phones are somewhat a rare site, and hence sort of premium. The 5.9 OLED is also not common, so Asus is probably going with a custom Samsung AMOLED just like they did with Rog 5.

It can be comfortable in a way you just have to place it and not plug it, but you're forgetting about the discomfort of not being able to use the phone when it's wireless charging. So for a conform of 5-10 seconds, why should one have discomfort of hours?

                          N°1 : Electromagnetic pop up :
                          https://imgur.com/gallery/ykYfaa6
Rather than being actuated by an electric motor, it has a mix of magnets and electromagnets, the mix Magnet/Electromagnet make it actuate up and down, and the Magnet/Magnet couple hold it in place, so it doesn't need to constantly drain energy for being kept in one position.
It is here showcased within a fictional concept smartphone that has many other techs within it, all already existing in prototype, concept or already on the market.
The pop up here is totally sealed off of the rest of the phone as there isn't the need for a physical mechanism to move it, data and power can either be transferred through pass-through flat flexible cable or via contact pins, thanks to that, the water literally can't get inside the device from the pop up as there are literally no openings.

                          N°2 : See through pop up :
                          https://imgur.com/gallery/tIXYDCW
The idea here is basically to have a pop up that doesn't need to be connected in any way to the rest of the phone, it is done via a 90° light deflecting prism.
It is here showcased with my single sensor advanced zoom periscope concept that combine Ultra-Wide, Wide, Telephoto, Macro and Portrait to a single sensor, it also allows to use the same main sensor for the pop up, aka the front camera.
Since it is only a prism, it can easily be actuated like my electromagnetic pop up concept, but rather than cable or pins, its enclosure simply have a transparent floor, acting like a lens.

                          N°3 : Exterior slider (no 3D model).
It would work like the Oppo Find X or the Galaxy A80, except that rather than a part of the body moving upward, exposing all the elements, it is here basically something mounted outside the phone, on its back, many systems can actuate it, from electric motors (that can be water-resistant) to magnets, and I like this idea as it can also hide the main camera too by being on the back, so it has 3 positions :
1 : retracted, hide everything, 2 : Half way, reveal the main cameras, 3 : up, reveal the main cameras and make the top of the slider pop up, so cameras have a line of sight.

Being skeptical doesn't mean something doesn't exist, nor it is a reason to insult.

                                      LOVE my Zenfone 6!
Asus keep the following features to stand out!!!:
                                      -Flip camera
                                      -Expandable storage
                                      -3.5mm headphone jack
                                      -Wide angle lens
                                      -programable button

I DON'T CARE about 888 CPU, 120Hz screen or under-display fingerprint reader. They cost more for almost no benefit.

my phone is IP rated but it will never get near water , as I put it in a IP rated bag on inclement days
