The chip won't come cheap, though.

      Teknology, 20 Apr 2021Your logic is warped, here's why: You stated, and I... moreThe OEMs that use mediatek chips, always use for their cheap devices, not the flagships.

      They get snapdragon because it is simply better. You are not gonna see flagship from BBK, Xiaomi, Sony, Motorola using mediatek.

      Latest SD8xx support best RAM, best storage, fastest 5G speeds, QHD/4K screens with 144/120Hz, 4K@120 HDR and 8K@30 SDR recording, better ISP Spectra.

      None of this you get from mediatek chips.

        dude111, 20 Apr 202135 bucks for a 5nm chip? Doubtful.Thats the price of a single chip out of 50 000 that is minimum order.

          dude111, 20 Apr 202135 bucks for a 5nm chip? Doubtful.I think it could be ~35$. Given the size of the silicon and if it's the bulk market price.

                Looking forward to a new leader in the chip race. The Qualcomm reign has been toxic and undeniably anti-consumer and anti-competition.

                  35 dollars for flagship lol. Last I checked it was around 60-ish dollars.

                    4nmare going to be pretty expensive so the 3nm chios or 1 or half nm chip would cost more than whole flagship device made by caviar company.

I was simultaneously aiming a shot a both the poor spelling of the blogger here of this article, whilst stating regardless of MediaTek's 4nm chips, it isn't going to make it faster than Qualcomm's (the spelling of MediaTek in my previous comment was a distraction).

                            If Mediatek offers its chips with the same features that Qualcomm offers and for a much lower price, it is obvious that the Chinese will buy it in place of snapdragon, the new Dimensity 1100 and 1200 are examples of evolution in the segment, the Smartphone realme Neo GT with DM 1200 beats head-on with Snapdragon 870, has better autonomy and performance since it uses cortex A78 with the lithograph of 6 nanometers. The hegemony of qualcomm has to end for smartphones to become more accessible to the final consumer

                              You stated, and I quote:

                              Still all choose Qualcomm.
                              Just an evidence to prove Snapdragon is better."

                              Let's follow your ARM chip comparison to x86-86 chips:

                              AMD =$200
                              Intel = $459

                              Still all choose Intel.
                              Just an evidence to prove Intel is better ? No, not at all, and not true. Just evidence Intel strong-arms the OEMs to use Intel chips, and have software developers to insert code that slow down their software on AMD PCs.

                              The underdog (the little guy) always has a steep mountain to climb to get their products acceptable by the industry. Lisa Su has done a sterling and spectacular job.

                              MediaTek will have a really tough time against the Goliath that is Qualcomm.
