Maybe the real problem is with Google and Android. Google doesn’t really care which phones get updated. They only care about how many phones have Android installed on it. At the last Google I/O conference they said 1 million Android devices are activated everyday. Do you think they are all ICS or Jelly(has)been. NO. Probably the majority are 2.3 Gingerbread. The numbers are inflated just to make them look like Android is superior to iOS in popularity. Well fellow Android suckers, Google gives out open source Android to cheap Chinese manufacturers for free and these manufacturers flood the market with crap devices. We are all being brought into the Android whirlpool and where soon all our money and time will get sucked into it. Just stop and consider how risky it is to buy an Android phone with the hope that you will get some kind of update next year. It is just ridiculous, and you think Google really cares whether your phone gets updated? You have to admit Apple makes Google look like a huge stinking dung pile when it comes to updating and support their products. I know it’s painful to swallow, but at least you know that the money you have invested into a new Apple product results in getting a few updates that improve/fix the product. Google is just causing a disposable phone industry to develop and they don’t really care. They are all about the numbers and the money that is flowing out of our accounts into Google’s. I’m beginning to think Google has made me a sucker!!! No more Android for me.

I knew this would happen.
Motorola never keep its promise to upgrade its phone since the beginning when it starts to make android phone.
Now that Google have bought Motorola, I thought this broken promises will stop. Apparently not and I think this is due to the same bunch of people that is still working there.

So let me get this straight, the Atrix can run a full OS like Ubuntu without a hitch, but when it comes to a small OS update like android 2.4 [sorry, that was its old name ] now android 4.0, Moto is like no way, i can't run it smoothly. I mean like really, do we look that stupid ?

Im a non biased smartphone user and used HTC, Samsung and Sony etc. In my eyes the Moto Razr MAXX HD is their best phone and that battery life is on par with some feature phones!
Thats the way it should be.
It will take smartphones a long time to catch up with feature phones in terms of battery usage.
Do you remember the old phones in the late 90s? The battery life sucked, bulky and took ages to charge. Yes we are kind of in the same position with smartphones only they are getting slimmer and more hungry for power.
They need to do what Samsung did a while back and release a hybrid solar powered phone. Like some hybrid cars it can run off the free natural resource when your out of power! The Sun!!! Thats innovation if someone pulls it off,
I would highly applaud them!! The way we are with electronics is we are consuming so much power from our planet, its not the way forward and with companies like Apple, being greedy, changing power adapters and then making other things redundant is wasteful, everyone stick to a bloody standard and then we can all use the same thing and no need for drawers full of old power plugs and connection cables!

AnonD-73980, 30 Sep 2012not everyone knows how to root mate! and y cutomize when u ... moredude can't you see the sarcasm?? that is my point exactly that why buy android when you can buy a finished product like WP or IOS instead of being influenced by some nerds who think that installing custom roms or rooting their devices makes them cool. 99 % users just want their phones to work and don't know anything about modding or rooting or whatever. open source is over rated. best customer experience comes from paid software. most open source advocates are just cheap people disguising their cheapness as something principled when they really dont want to pay for the apps to the developer.

Soon after buying Motorola Defy I understood how badly motorola sucks. Never gonna buy or advice anyone to buy a Motorola. It does not provide with updates. Even a Samasung Galaxy Young which costs 6000 provides with updates and supports gingerbread. Defy costed me 16000 and sucks to the core! Bad buy...
