The Samsung phones are build in the same way as many chinese manufacturers including Xiaomi. They are even made in same areas and same factories with the same materials. To be fair, the consumers across the globe have paid too much for phones manufactured in China but with a Samsung label.

They had to establish themselves from scratch.
They started selling phones online targeting online savvy customers instead of selling them in physical stores.
They had to make lower profit margins in the earlier days to sustain in this competitive smartphone market.
Their success story is purely based on providing value for money products.
Over the years, their quality kept improving, hardware became better, software evolved and here we are in 2021, Xiaomi launching brilliant devices one after the other.
Can Sony do that in 2021?? He'll No!!

People in 2021 aren't Fools to blow up their money on a no name company like Sony, and yes it is no name company in 2021 smartphone world!
Among Chinese brands, Xiaomi does the least marketing.
Oppo and Vivo are the ones who used to spend a lot, which is why their phones were also expensive compared to Xiaomi.

There are complaints all over xda and other sites.
Atleast the few people buying it should be happy, otherwise it isn't worth paying 1200€ for this.

Sony phones quality are meh, the button its feels cheap and can be easily damaged, the body cam be easily strached, and the price drop really fast, unlike samsung and some high quality brand such as oneplus.

Sony can't demand that much price considering their current market presence and brand power in th smartphone world.
Most people will stick to Samsung, Mi, OnePlus, Oppo flagships in that premium segment.

I had an Xperia 5 and an Xperia 1ii, both of them were incredibly scratch prone on both the frame and "Gorilla" glass - I haven't had any other recent flagship that was as easily damaged as the Sony devices.

I'm genuinely having some concern for your eyes because mine can see obvious differences.

I want this phone for several specific reasons that you cannot find in one package on any other phone...period! I do not care about cameras. ALL smart phones in the last few years can take decent enough photos that look adequate for viewing on a tiny 6 inch screen...period!
However, unless I am missing something, there is no other phone available today with all of these features in one package: Stereo front facing speakers, a headphone jack, no PUNCH HOLE - notch, or tear drop selfie, respectable top and bottom bezels for housing the necessary sensors and speakers, a notification LED, expandable storage for those who want, and or need it!
As far as I know there is NO OTHER OEM providing all of these excellent features in any one smart phone package. There was a time when ALL smart phones had all of these necessary features! Therefore, as far as I am concerned Sony is the ONLY company that is doing things right. Yes, the phone is expensive, but ALL so-called flagships are over priced in my opinion. And now that Sony is supporting 5G bands here in the US I see nothing else that even comes close to competing...for me!
