I guess someone is fine with the brand, others simply care for results and facts.

I should have known it since you called AAC "low quality". What a waste of time.

dude111, 19 May 2021Did you even read what I wrote? SBC is low quality. AAC ... moreI saw what you wrote, but it is just wrong ... what did you expect, for me to take a time to dismiss every nonsense one by one?
No, it does not work the way you described, if you want to know more, do your own research - same way I did.
Let me give you one little hint as the BT codecs and encoding does not work the same way on iOS/Android - on iOS it really does default to SBC, but not on Android ... I am expecting the reply "re-encoding bad", but I do not seriously care :-D

SBC is low quality. AAC is not.
aptX is not always activated in phones, and android has a lot of problems playing AAC so the default codec will be SBC in most cases unless you know how to change it and take advantage of it (if you use it to stream mp3@320, you would not be listening to something better than AAC@256). That's a fact.

dude111, 18 May 2021I don't know why you put SBC in the same bracket as AA... moreAndroid supports every BT codec there is.
iOS on the other hand it is ancient SBC or low quality AAC.
You know what codec you are using on Android - it's clearly stated in settings and details are in developer settings.

Fearghast, 18 May 2021Oh, the irony - Apple Music update that is targeted on Andr... moreI don't know why you put SBC in the same bracket as AAC when the latter is superior in almost every category than that ancient format SBC, which, tbh, is what most users on android use because even when BT headphones above $30 do support aptX (or at least "say they do") some phones don't use it per default, and given android disgraceful use of AAC (it basically can't), most audio will be transmitted in SBC.

Android gives you the choice of course, but if you don't know about BT codecs, or even what the streaming service is using, you will, for certain, using SBC.

The only concern I have with this is, will we be able to use streamers to enjoy lossless music. Will applications like Roon and BluOS integrate with Apple Music.

Fayth, 18 May 2021Apple Music : no extra cost external DAC : are you sure? You can find decent mobile DAC for really cheap - less than $40, and you can get Tempotec Sonata HD Pro.

Fearghast, 18 May 2021Oh, the irony - Apple Music update that is targeted on Andr... moreAAC is fine. It supports 24bit audio (HD-AAC, lossless) since 2008 or so. Most devices support the newest standard.

Also Apple: Here's lossless audio, best experience on wired headphones.

Oh, the irony - Apple Music update that is targeted on Android and Desktop users :-D
iPhones, iPad etc. only support AAC/SBC via Bluetooth, lighting to jack dongle does not support HD audio, any Beats/Apple headphones does not support anything better than SBC/AAC ...
TBH it feels really satisfying to criticize Apple for getting rid of jack and having the worst Bluetooth audio on the market. Now they will try to fix what they broke in 2016.

USB audio player pro for eg has their own custom driver which access internal dacs directly and thus gets proper hi res via jack. They can also stream directly from tidal or qobuz. Those are great if your phone supports it.

                              Nope.

jamalu96, 18 May 2021Does the older iPhone 6/6S with headphone jack can support ... moreSame question. I use my old 6s to stream to my schiit stack. I also occasionally use my iPad 8th gen to stream. So, my new iPad's h/w should be capable to stream AM's high-resolution audio in case the 6s is not able to, hopefully.

Does the older iPhone 6/6S with headphone jack can support 24bit 192Khz format?

I'm not sure what happens in a phone with a dedicated dac like the LG phones. I think the signal also bypasses the Android audio system and goes straight into the dac and then to headphone jack.

Also tidal's hifi tier is mqa only, which a lot of audiophiles hate. Tidal's being hit by a freight train.
