As I recall, the Android OS itself is limited to 44.1, so anything beyond that is pointless in Android.

but their wireless earphones are not. i guess the feature will appear on future hardware

      lets. fu(k!ng. go!!!!!!!!!

        Great news! Audiophiles rejoice!

          Hi-fi for archiving purposes? Excelent.
          For streaming? Hmmmmm pass.

I posted another comment but I didn't mean to include Amazon. Oops...

No extra cost...wow... That's great for...well...non-iOS users since iPhones don't have headphone jacks. Lol.

That is honestly great. Tidal, Deezer, Amazon music HD, and Spotify have to step up on this one.

Its unbelievable that apple will ask no money for something.
They know only how to rob customers and gives nothing or bad things as a return.

The benefits of higher sampling rates than cd is not about reproducing higher frequencies beyond human hearing, but using much gentler low pass filters required for sampling and reconstructing digital audio.

NyQuist theory states a perfect reproduction is possible if the signal is perfectly band limited, but real world audio signals require very heavy brick wall low pass filters both on sampling and reconstruction to prevent aliasing.

A meta analysis found a statistically significant preference for high res audio.

Tidal has a bit of competition now . Wonder if they'll get rid of their hifi subscription
