People seem to forget that it's a budget phone. For a budget phone that has Gorilla Glass 6 and IP ratings, with a headphone jack, and a compact design, this phone isn't even that bad. People complaining that $202 is expensive, but that's because of these Chinese phones flooding the market with rebranded phones that get released every month. Phones that don't get any updates and cost less to make. The Ace 2 also has a huge battery as well which means you're gonna have it last longer, the phone isn't meant for gaming and isn't doing high end usage. You can browse the web, read articles, etc with comfort. I do agree that the 720p display is a con and that they could've at least had a 1080p display, but I don't make decisions at Sony.
It's also a Japan-only phone.

The custom ROM community widely shows that it is possible to have a new OS version and doesn't hurt the performance. Also, don't cry if your long outdated Chinese phone has been a victim of a security attack.

Actually Sony use to make better smartphone in compact series of z o have used z3 compact it was best phone for me but now days apple has done good job with 12 mini including all top end feature and camera of high end specially keeping the size in mind of mini Sony can also do the same thing

Very nice device and the price is OK. I am pretty sure I'll buy it if available in EU with 2 SIM cards. I don't have any hardware requirements except for at least 4 gigs of RAM and compact dimensions.

China & Japan are on opposite ends of anything & everything.
No denying that the phone isn't a great piece of tech, but it has it's target set on specific bunch of customers. Not too shabby, won't leave Japan if I'm right.
