We've already seen the panels interface running smoothly at launch, but they wouldn't show anything else which I guess means it was only that part working well at the time.
This one seems to have drivers turned off, which may be simply to make it more stable for testing, rather than a fancy UI. Think Safe Mode on Windows, doesn't look good but it's stable for testing and problem solving.
That's my guess anyway.
Also, the A100/200 phones have a QVGA screen, this has WVGA which is 5 times the number of pixels (76,800 vs 384,000)to render so hardware acceleration would be a massive help!

looks really cool and nice. But like everyone said ... its slow but hopefully it will be solved when the real thing comes out later this year. However, kinda wasted because when you really explore the phone, you get the the same old boring WM interface. Anywaz good work from SE and I would be looking into P5 before deciding though.

I dont see anything wrong with the software being slow, as you can see at the start this was only a demo and there will be upgrades.... just great options and nice mobile... cant wait to get my hand on it..... and for those Nokia lovers... at-less the software never crashed like E90.... took a friend of mine almost 8 months to get the software issue cleared after he purchased an E90.... and to make things more clear... almost everyone had the software issue... with E90..

Hello, Just thought i would post my comments on the phone,
It looks boring slow and like anyother HTC handset.
I dont see what all the fuss is about there are allready loads of handsets that do the same job and prob do it better than this. Cheers Carlos

The X1 does not suck. It's half a year away from release for Christ's sake!

i agree with X1 Sucks...the phone is wayyyy too slow moving through the "CoverFlow" lookalike. and when going from vertical to horizontal or vice versa, the screen seems to lag for at least 1 second...the phone just seems to be too laggy to have any real feel to it

Great industrial design, slow performance, ugly and outdated OS´ looks, confusing interface and layout of menus. NOT thrilled.

"quite impressive, but as gsmarena said it cries for video acceleration, the animations just doenst flow as it has to.
I hope the comercial version improve that."
^^ I don't think the video accelerator would help the quite slow interface speed of the phone. it lies within the OS itself imo. look at the SE non-OS phones(A100/A200) they don't have any dedicated hardware graphics accelerators but they run animation smoothly without the same level of lag as with the WM6 does. in fact SE does used the video driver that's why it's capable of recording VGA 30Fps video.

That guys thumb is totally bending backwards at a 90 degree angle! F-in gross!
But yeah. This video proves the X1 is a hardware dream, but still leaves something to be desired in OS...
Seeing as there are no better alternatives for WVGA, this is still going to be my next phone. I DO WANT wvga video on my phone!

Just as I feared. The Windows OS definitely won't completely ruin the X1 experience, but it will make it less enjoyable. This could he fixed before release though. SE or HTC has to jump on it soon. This phone does look very promising, and I hope it does deliver. I know I'm considering trying it out.
