Snapdragon 888+ emerges on Geekbench, Cortex-X1 core clocks in at 3Ghz

It's about time we see an overclocked version of Qualcomm's flagship SoC.

Anonymous, 29 May 2021Wrong, the iPhone 12’s A14 didn’t have a throttling issue, ... moreDude Gary whoever is not my neighbor and I actually had 12 pro max used it for 4 months and it was throttling if you physically don’t have one why bother go watch YouTube

Mikeromeoz, 28 May 2021More clocks = more heat produced, which is already an issue... moreBoth but actually it's because the Adreno 660 GPU is clocked way too high although Qualcomm didn't disclose it, Wikipedia says it's 792 MHz up from 587 MHz on the Adreno 650. Adreno has been stuck with 6xx for years now so Qualcomm expects improvements from node process.

Second factor, 5nm Samsung being on par with 7nm TSMC, almost no efficiency gains. Third factor, Cortex X1 is more power hungry but not as bad as the GPUs.

All this to have the highest numbers in benchmark and say newer is stronger so buy it. Phones are already overpowered so hardly any difference in normal usage. However, Qualcomm has another plan which is the Snapdragon 870, way more value.

Anonymous, 29 May 2021did you even check the videos on all the other phone using SD888?Yes.

        Mi11 Ultra, S21 Ultra, X60 Pro+, X3 Pro, 9 Pro, Rog 5, Redmagic 6, BlackShark all run way cooler than mi11.

Mi11 was rushed just to say it is first 888 phone.
Search on google: mi11 motherboard burnt.

It is worse than SD810 phones.

Probably they will put this chipset in the upcoming Tab S8 series.
Being that they are tablets (better for colling and big batteries), I am expecting great things from it.

Again, Qualcomm needs to stop with these + models. It's a useless upgrade. What's the point of releasing this (knowing the + variants launch on phones late Q3 or Q4 of the year) when the next SoC is coming up in a few months? I remember saying about this 865+ on here, and I got heat from the comments.
If you want a full processor experience with all the bells and whistles, then go full out on it.

Hope it won't have heating issue

Now with even less battery time!

Yeah I guess it is a smart move to wait for next gen, 888 alone is power hungry, this even more.
