Finally Samsung sensor will kill Sony sensor.

Interesting, so far it sounds impressive. I look forward to reading reviews. If they are good, I'll buy a phone with it.

      Front camera and periscopes.

It sounds more like low-end to mid-range sensor with 1/2.76" size, also pixel size is extremely small 0.64 μm, it is really low tier sensor.

Better to use old flagship sensor than this ugly small um sensor, this only downgrade most flagship killer to low end phone standard. I prefer samsung imx 682 or gw1 compared to this shiet

High resolution mode basically wont useable, with the 0.7um line up such as redmi note 10 pro its very fuzzy compared to oil painting 0.8um from last gen, jow this sensor came with 0.64um is very laughable

sohail shafayat, 10 Jun 2021Rubbish, this can be a 16MP max with this diagonal I'd rather have a 16MP camera with excellent quality than a 50MP that is mediocre.

I hope that, they'll drop good midrangers in Indian market!
I'll buy it for my dad!

Samath N8 808 owner, 10 Jun 2021Samsung's source link says it is multipurpose, but yes... moreActually the reason why quad bayer may not be used for telephoto may be the processors' limitation with regard to having 3 Quad Bayer sensors and the enormous amount of processing required for the same. I am guessing with better allocations and selections of camera (which to be use at what point), resources could be allocated accordingly.

It doesn't have to be use as a MAIN Cam. Rather maybe for Telephoto? Where budget and Mid Range smartphones lack.

This is obviously not a primary camera sensor. But it seems to have lot of features from their high end sensors, so it will definitely improve secondary cameras.

This sensor seems really capable but companies need to work hard on the processing too!

Lol, this sensor is even smaller than the ISOCELL GM5 and GM2. Unless this sensor is meant for the front selfie camera, I don't see any reason to pick this over the GM5 or GM2 as the main rear camera.

r33fd, 10 Jun 2021What's the point of this sensor? Probably just mark... moreNot just marketing. A lot of devices today, from budget to midrange, use 1/2.8 to 1/4 inch sensor for UW and selfie cameras. This can be a replacement for those. I don't see this being used as standard wide camera at all considering that even budget devices are using 1/2 inch sensor.
