Xiaomi's 200W charging degrades 20% of battery capacity in 800 cycles

11 June 2021
Depending on your usage that could be several years of charging, however.

It's still lithium based, but I think electrode/anode used different materials to boost charging rates without creating as much heat. But don't quote me on that because I can't seem to find it.

Now whether they're actually lying in this scenario or not, we don't know. In a controlled environment, you could get what they claim, but we don't know.

Strawhat, 11 Jun 2021What proof do you have?Screenshot of battery health test after 3 yrs of use. But on those yrs, you ll have to trust me, as I dont intend to search for my ex phones receipt date.

Lost only 9% after 4 yrs of daily charging use (over 1400 cycles).
Have proof. Can provide.

If this is a new-gen battery, this is believable. But no thanks. I'd rather have it degrade much slower, since I don't trust replacement batteries to not be old stock / counterfeits.

Dont know who made the end of that statement in the article, xiaomi or arena, but whtever...that is an absolute promotional lie.

No, some phones dont lose 20% after 800 cycles.

But them dont use these fast chargers, and have battery care systems.

I lost only 18% of my battery after 4 yrs of use, charging every day. Thats qnovo batterycare.

So no, no thank you to fast chargers.

The super irony here as you say there is more degradation versus "Normal" charging

When infact normal charging WAS fast charging technology previously..

So the what is proven?

Proven across what standards?

What are the limitations of the conclusions that were met?

Is this claim of proven degradation universal to all generations and developments on newer battery technologies and charger technologies

What are the controlled experiments?

Every new charging speed usually has some new approach , regulation or protocol

It's just hilarious to see people trusting xiaomi's retarded advertising

"According to THEIR (OWN) estimates the battery should lose little under 20% of its capacity after 800 cycles, which is over two years if you do a full charge every day."

Heavy use entails more than a single charge per day. Plus this is according to Xiaomi. Independent tests, and actual user experience could be quite different.

This is why it's important to either replace the battery after 2 years, or move on to a newer phone. Irregardless of how fast the battery charges, degradation can lead to performance instability and extreme battery anxiety.

Look at it this way, which phone will most definitely have a good quality battery, a phone with battery that was designed to charge at 200W, or one that have a battery designed to charge at 15W? How fast you charge it after buying is your choice.
