What a shame. I wanted to go for S22 Plus to get glass back. Why pay high when I can get a mid range Samsung with decent specs and same plastic back.

The actual flagships being plastic-backed feels off though. And I'd also love the return of metal, the old HTC One (M7) was the last phone I wanted to use without a case because it just felt so good.

I do have a Mi 9T Pro, which is still one of my favourite Xiaomi phones to date, running Android 11 custom ROM. The difference between it and MIUI 12 is literally day and night. I have a much better performance when using the custom ROM.

Though I will still keep the Mi 9T Pro for custom ROM fun, I have already eyeing on either the ASUS Zenfone 8 or the upcoming Sony Xperia 5 Mk3. I never owned an ASUS phone before, so it would be an intriguing experience. But I did had a brief experience with current Sony phones when I'm following my friend to see him buying an Xperia 10 Mk2. Even with a midrange chipset and 4GB RAM, the experience is almost unreal. It's as fast as my custom ROM Xiaomi phone. Imagine how the overall performance would be like with SD 888 and 12GB RAM, that would be godly!

Plastic back on Galaxy S Lite or FE models would make sense, but on a premium S models? That is literally asking for it.

Had a Xiaomi phone for 6 months and had so many bugs in the software, then switched back to Samsung and 0 bugs. Xiaomi is notorious for having mediocre software.

[deleted post]because MIUI is hands down one of the worst UI's in ANdroid right now along with vivo, oppo, realme and their sub brands . One UI has come a long way and is the 2nd best UI after stock OS. Oxygen OS was 2nd until their OS 11 came and ruined everything

                    I need samsung s22 please

[deleted post]My mum has a Samsung Galaxy J8, which is a 2018 phone with an outdated Snapdragon 450 chipset and just 3GB RAM, running Android 10 with OneUI 2.0. Since I was the one who does the OS update and security patches because my mum isn't an IT person, I can easily say how smooth OneUI runs on that budget phone and it is indeed smooth. Even when running multiple apps in the background, I didn't suffer any lag at all. Meanwhile, my old Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, with an equally outdated Snapdragon 625 chipset and 4 GB RAM, really started to struggle when running more than three apps under MIUI. I got so fed up with it that installed Havoc-OS custom ROM in it and you know what? I never look back. I don't even miss MIUI at all. No surprise why Xiaomi phones are so popular with the custom ROM community - great hardware, but terrible UI optimization.

Do you think plastic is more Premium than ceramic, just because plastic can sustain drops a tiny bit more, is that your logic, if you have one ?

Actually there is no single word about the frame or chassis switching from metal to plastic.

Nemo, 15 Jun 2021I have no problem with plastic back side or smaller screen,... moreYes, its like what xiaomi was doing before, but now even xiaomi doesn't cut corners, even at 300$ you can get sd 870 dolby atmos stereo speakers, glass back with the best flat 120hz display as stated by display mate and gizmochina...., It also support google camera
Now at 1000€ you still get exynos throttling and heating machine, and It DOESN'T SUPPORT GOOGLE CAMERA, a NOT-GOOD battery life (4000mah), plastic back
Its just crazy to pay this price for these specs, poco f3 seems better for me than the s21, since I don't use cameras just so rarely (even If I use them I can get better results due to gcam), and Since I prefer miui and many people do,
Samsung now cut corners, scams people with exynos for some regions, overpriced phones, very slow charge speed, small battery on the base (the non plus version)
It also doesn't innovate as it was before, its really a shame, I will never buy a samsung phone again

Anonymous, 15 Jun 2021Custom ROM availability has to do with how popular a device... moreThat proves my point that Xiaomi budget phones are NOT well optimized. Some Xiaomi budget phones aren't even people's favourite and yet there is a custom ROM for them. It does show that MIUI for Xiaomi budget phones haven't been favoured much as you would believe. Heck, some custom ROM converts who did have a Xiaomi budget phone said that they won't go back to MIUI ever again.
