Anonymous, 15 Jun 2021Samsung's not going to replace your scratched plastic panel.I'll just put a skin on it to hide the scratches all the while giving my phone a new look.
And one can easily replace plastic back from the company or a 3rd party shop

Love the Community, 15 Jun 2021Plastic? Why not metal body? They could just have a cutout ... moreMaybe because making a smartphone with an all-metal body would end up having a lot of weight. But that said, I don't see any problem with an all-aluminium body. Some smartphones do have an aluminium frame and there is monocoque aluminium chassis technology. Plus, aluminium is lighter than steel and glass, so that sounds like a feasible idea to me. Of course, there is carbon fibre like what Carbon Mobile did with the Carbon 1 MK II, but carbon fibre blocks radio waves and that is not really a good idea for general mainstream products.

I can understand why people would complain about having a plastic back panel on a flagship-grade smartphone, it's just doesn't feel right for the offered price. I mean, the cheapest S21 starts at $799 RRP. Even when LG launched the V60 last year with the same RRP, they still managed to give a GG6 glass back panel. But when you start applying a phone case, it really doesn't matter if the back panel is plastic or glass. No one will know or see it anyway. Once the phone casing is attached, that glass back finish feel is automatically gone. So unless if you are the kind of person who never uses a phone case in any way, it just doesn't matter if the back panel is plastic.
