18 June 2021
iOS 14 brought the ability for picture-in-picture with apps, but its not until recently that Google enabled it on the YouTube app.

[deleted post]this is entirely on Google, PiP has been in iOS for long now. But you would have gotten it if you actually read anything the article says.

Just use YouTube Vanced on Android..

Correction: PiP works for Netflix but not for Tubi and Peacock.

So PiP works for Netflix, Pluto, and Spectrum. This all applies to Android too but it has it for YouTube for years.

I have no allegiance to any of these companies. I don't waste my time with hate in my heart bashing a company all day. They're all flawed. None of them are perfect. I just use products for my benefit. I don't care what brand it is. There's quite a lot of stuff I like from iOS over Android. I was 80-20 favoring Android and it's now 55-45.

What is the point of Pip? You are either watching the video or doing some other thing. You can't do both at thesame time.
The only advantage I can think of is time saving.

They might as well charge users to be able to be able to go full screen in landscape mode while they're at it.

Glad I block all ads on YouTube. Google don't deserve a cent.

Already on iPad like 5-6 years ago. I was using PiP on my Nexus One using MoboPlayer video player app already a decade ago.

My iPhones has PiP for Pluto TV, Spectrum TV, Tubi, and Peacock but not for Netflix and YouTube. PiP won't work on my Androids either for Netflix.

[deleted post]Not really a fair analogy that, considering the feature being discussed here belongs to an service owned by Google.

GregLu, 18 Jun 2021Great for when I'll make the switch to Apple vs what&#... moreDont expect it any soon anyway.
They do not have devices enough to match demand in China. Let alone sell in other areas.
Even the 512GB is already out of stock , both black and purple.

                      Pathetic...

Great for when I'll make the switch to Apple vs what's left on Android side ... Samsung / Oppo (+subs) / Xiaomi, great choice :/

Sony, yeah, but kinda pricey. I dig the Xperia 1 III tough. But again, now that I have WF-1000XM4, even of they are offered in the bundle it's not great for me anymore :P
