Heck, the Apple doesn't even have a high screen refresh rate for crying out loud! So really, in the real world, the Sony is still cheaper. If you buy either Apple or Samsung, you still have to pay extra for wireless headphone and possibly larger cloud storage as well. If I'm a first time customer, I'd walk away.

Anonymous, 23 Jun 2021Stupid ratio of 21:9 is a no no compared to not stupid rati... moreTo be frank, both 20:9 and 21:9 is not any different. If the screen width is 1080p, then 21:9 would have an extra 120 pixels of screen height than 20:9, and 20:9 is already too tall in the first place. For me, I'd rather have an 18:9 screen. It is the right compromise for screen height.

It does NOT appear to be available for pre-order at the US B&H site, though there IS an entry now for the 256GB version in black, with expected availability date of August 19.

I don't care about pricing BTW and Sony doesn't either. Sony knows that there are some fans left who will pay, but they also won't grow the customer base with this strategy.

Anonymous, 23 Jun 2021With the 30W charging? Lol 😂 Even budget devices have 65W ... moreApple only gives 20W charging for the latest top-tier iPhone, and yet no one bat an eye about it. Samsung did provide 45W charging before, but no one has any idea why they removed it.

Sonu4678, 23 Jun 2021Sony Xperia 1 III 256 GB Price - $1,299.99 the entry model BTW If I'm going to be brutally honest, the $50 to $100 price difference doesn't really make any significant difference. If the price difference starts at $200, then I would take the price matter really seriously. Also, Sony never launches the 512GB variant. 256GB is the only option, even for last year's Mk2. But with microSD card support, that is more than good enough for me.

Come on dude, who buys Sony nowadays?

I would miss a proper desktop mode from this Xperia as I often use it on my LG, but I could make it work with Taskbar I think.

The Sony display is 6.5" but it's much smaller surface area compared to the 6.8" on Xiaomi.
That 0.3" indicates a slightly bigger screen. In person, it offers a lot more screen real estate.
