It's about focal length, 70mm is meant for portrait shots while 105 is meant for upclose shots. Mi 11 Ultra doesn't have a focal length for portrait shots, 24mm deforms faces while 120mm is far from ideal.
That giant sensor you are talking about inside Mi 11 Ultra actually bins multiple pixels into one while Sony's "tiny" doesn't. Actually it's Mi 11 Ultra who has tiny pixels compared to 1 III

You know what also doesn't matter? Zoom. Variable telephoto lens on Xperia has two optical values one meant for portraits and one for 45 degree shots, zooming comes secondary.

It is the main selling point of Sony Xperia. Which phone has dedicated two stage shutter button, like real camera? Which phone offer many frames per second like real camera? Or "Photo Pro" mode software which other phone does not even have. I am not even talking here that Sony actually make mobile phone camera sensors and sell them to Samsung and other brands for their mobile phone cameras which is another topic for discussion. That is actually why Sony decided to delay the sell this year because they want to replace one camera sensor in Xperia 1 iii for better night mode photography and I guess they will improve software for that too.

And we all know it! Sony simply unable to do it properly which is the real cause of your frustration. Sure there is no need in computational photography for real cameras for obvious reasons. Keep fascinating with lackluster Sony!

Can drop off tons of "fake" photos for you proving my point - you can't find a single 1 - 3 year old flagship smartphone with THAT bad photo quality, Mr. Sony-lover. I'm laughing every time I look at Xperia 1 II photos. How blind is love to such expensive camera-phone with clearly so crappy photos :). Cheers

The last things I need on a smartphone are microSD card slot and audiojack. 128GB storage is more than enough for me. Since Galaxy S21 Ultra available right now and significantly cheaper than Xperia 1 III which is not available neither in my country nor in the whole continent nearby - Australia, I won't be bothered with Sony. It's just no brainer.

Announce in first half of the year and sell on second half of the year. And every year people can not see this and make the same jokes about realise date again and again and again.
