Anonymous, 02 Jul 2021Obviously.... Xperia 1 III still has plenty of shortcomings... moreI saw charging yesterday from tech Nick channel. The 30W charging from Xperia is slower than the 25W charging on Samsung... It also heated up the most.
With Sony its just numbers and specs on paper. Doesn't reflect in real world.
For example, The 2.7x optical zoom from Sony gets beaten by digital zoom on Mi 11 Ultra.
Another case where on the Xperia 1 II, people thought they were getting top notch 4k screen only for them to complain about sunlight visibility. Sony forums full of these complaints.
Sony fans said you can't get that high brightness from 4k panel, yet the 1080p panel on Xperia 5 II had same dim display.
Things like these that make people avoid Sony. They have been left to irrelevancy in the smartphone market for this very same reason

Considering that the first flaw you mentioned is autorotate and the only person to ever say that is that YouTube kid tells me you tried so hard to pull something out of your butt that you even watched his video as soon as it got posted. His unit is pre-production and he got it in the very beginning of May unlike those production units released in China close to a month ago.
As far as charging goes Samsung overall was running hotter by more than 7 degrees once it was done charging compared to both Xperia and iPhone. Those 50 degrees of Celsius you mentioned was a short peak but not overall temperature. And Xperia still had battery care function turned on.
Shooting videos in dark? Have you ever had a video camera or you phone is your first video camera every? You just went on YouTube and watched that low light video of a lady playing instruments on a street and came to some bogus conclusions.

If a company discontinues a product, you won't be able to buy it once it's out of stock. Consumers are directly affected. Also, I don't know where 4 years came from. Companies can discontinue their products anytime. They don't need approval from consumers, and they don't need to tell consumers many years in advance.

When Xperia 5 II launched last year they suddenly changed their tune on HRR. Uptil then HRR was useless and only supposed to be a battery hog.
They swore that they would never use it beyond 60hz, now these same guys are bragging about 4k120hz oled and suddenly battery life problems have disappeared in thin air. So many people called them out 2 years back for their regressive opinions on smartphone tech

XM3 is still one of the best tws on the market.but,$1300 is still a steep price considering sony's decline in market share

- A company is not always aiming at getting all the market share, you could really be healthy even if you get 1% of market share, if this market share is stable and the revenue match the investment.
- How is it an issue for the consumer? Especially on a market where the product lifecycle is around 2 years. If the product match your needs, the fact the company making it could potentially stops making a new one 4 years later isn't any of your concern. You can change brand anytime. Some people have a really unhealthy relationship with their product brand. It's not a wedding.
I change brand anytime something is wrong with one and I couldn't care less about them. I spit on the playstation, but hey! the xperia 1 mark 1 satisfied me at the point of not coming here to look for better for 2 years. It can't be said about a lot of phone, especially not the Huawei mate 10 pro that was a real garbage and pushed me to change my phone after only a year (I would have done it far earlier if I didn't care about not consuming like a mad man).
Sony could even disappear after selling this phone, that's not really my problem as a consumer, since anyway they have to support it for 2 years by law here. (and in 15 years of smartphone I never got anything helpful from a support so that's more like a gimmick)

I hate the wait, last year's earbuds, and pointless CoD mobile transaction points but alas, there is NO other phone this year that offers front-facing stereo speakers, MicroSD card slot and headphone jack (not holding my breath for the upcoming Pixels) that works in the US.
So once Best Buy opens their pre-orders, I'm getting it regardless to finally retire my LG V20 which has been lacking in reception lately. Don't care as much about the camera so it will suit my needs just fine.

I'm not a fan of ultrawide stuff in general (anything beyond 16:9, let alone 21:9), but Sony is literally the only manufacturer making a flagship that meets my core requirements (headphone jack, sd slot, no notch). The fact that it's the exception that proves the rule is really sad.

What's really best for consumer is to have the choice between DIFFERENT things so anyone can find what they want.
No need to fight for or against a company that just want your money anyway, be it Sony or any other.
