Apple's overscroll-bounce patent has been invalidated in the US

23 October, 2012
The decision comes from USPTO but may be appealed, so it isn't enforceable just yet.

Hope Apple will go to the bottom someday, cause it starting to make people nervous already with all these stupid law suits, and making itself look already paranoid. Maybe once it was alright, but for every small thing to go to court its silly. Maybe they are afraid of loosing the battle which in my opinion is happening right now. They are afraid and desperately trying to keep on floating but They didn't invented anything and pretend they are the best. No, it's not, iPhone isn't far the best phone and they have to accept it also accept that they are going down. And I really hope that Samsung and Asus will show Apple how to behave. Otherwise its turning into idiocracy. And thats why more and more people turn to other Android devices. Android is the Best!!! Keep going and don't give up!!!

alex t, 23 Oct 2012Nokia has been using reject call with text for years now. I... moreYes you are right, reject call with sms is an old symbian feature and even android uses it way before iOS6 so, no novelty there.
Of course using bounce to warn you of a over scroll shouldn't be patented. It doesn't involve any new technology or discoveries so it can not be patented. It is a question of style, not tech.
That doesn't mean it doesn't help Apple prove Samsung copy them. More than technology or patents, Samsung copied looks and style of iPhone so even if the patent is reject, the fact that Samsung used the same solution n conjunction with other similar aspects it proves they copied.
Samsung copied but didn't infringed patents. Just that.

Did Apple just patented "slide to unlock" for real ?
Slide is nothing but scroll or a "drag and drop" feature so how could someone patent scroll and "drag and drop" features since they were here since ages ?
That being said "slide to unlock" should be invalidated next if it wasn't invalidated till now.

:-) as Android phones are most popular, it was a matter of time that Apple hits Android fans at pathent office and courts

And people do you know one thing. Nokia gets money for every iphone sold. Because Nokia has rented out a bulk number of patents that are used in Iphone.

This calls for a few drinks, yippee. And im not talking about patented apple cider ahah.t

Anyway, this only became important because of samsung galaxy S, no denying it was a shameless copy. Samsung went to far in copying, and things went a little overboard. If it wasnt for Samsung Galaxy S then stuff like this would not even make the news.

These actions from a.pl can be summed up as NOISE. Would you like m$ to claim a patent for using "x" to close a gui element? if you check your windows desktop you will find hundreds of more significant innovations that have later propagated throughout the industry. And that's the stuff that you see, then you have drivers and this is getting very ridiculous

"reject a call with a SMS on a SMARTPHONE" .. that's the innovation
"do sh!t with a SMARTPHONE" .. another innovation
"do a pinch gesture on a CAPACITIVE touchscreen" .. yet another innovation...

Apple didn't invent the "thing" they invented the way to "name" it so that it sounds "new" in the bribed eyes of the patent office.
