Especially when it sometimes fails to handle highlights even in landscape shots where capturing them should be the easiest.

They simply favour colder white balance in outdoor shots, and are definitely NOT "filling in" any information for any part of the frame. You're just talking nonsense here.

I got all on my g drive. Most of (95%) reviews that I readed DIDN'T test "Photo Pro" app - app that has compute. Only gsmarena tested that.

Mate 10 Pro are about 2 years older than Xperia 1, with inferior camera hardware. You should compare your Xperia 1 with P30 Pro. My friend had Mate 10 Pro while my wife had Mate 9 back then, for sure it is great on its era.

Also at best his shot are just some average one, got better ones with the mark I. And no phone make always good photos, most of the time, that's your composition skills that make the difference and you'll throw away 350 photos on a batch of 400 in a single night. Even with a dedicated camera. So yeah, you always choose the best shot when you keep them. Only people that never make photo think you just point and click to have a good photo. That's just good to share your food on messenger.

Sony official hungarian site listed it for 499.999HUF (~1420EUR). Not only is it vastly overpriced in Europe, we can still pay more for it without any pre-order or other special offer.

Since the the main sensor is the same as model II. You can actually use the camera app from version III on version II and get improved image quality

It's nice that 1 III has a higher resolution, larger screen, and can act as an external monitor but I HATE tall skinny phones. They're bad for reading, bad for apps, and they're uncomfortable in a pocket. The 5 III doesn't fix the aspect ratio by much but at least the height fits into a pocket.

Apple and Samsung have a real hard time capturing the gray/white sky as they always fill in blue in it.

I understand Michael Fischer frustation on its review regarding video recording, but HLG format are meant to be color grade. Not just showing RAW output and call it a day. And is he even turn on the HDR?
About Auto processing, agree, still needs improvement. Market understanding, that is Sony problem in every aspect. Its a smartphone, 95% user will just snap and go. If you want to introduce high level camera-like manual mode, you have to score in the Auto first.
