Rumor: the Snapdragon 895 will be fabbed on 4nm Samsung node, the 895+ on 4nm TSMC node

05 July 2021
Leakster IceUniverse says that Qualcomm will split the orders between the two foundries. The Snapdragon 888+ stuck with Samsung.

So when will we see more of these chipsets in laptops since the laptop class chips?

I really hope next year snapdragon 895+ will beat apple a15 bionic in performance

Unfortunately there will never be a phone with removable battery and this chipset.

Exynos with amd?owww, then it would be hotter and more power hungry. So forget about this exynos. Its a trap again from samsung.

sadh, 06 Jul 2021I think 28nm was just 2 years ago. Now we're at 4nm??28nm existed around five to seven years ago during the days of Snapdragon 800/801 and Snapdragon 650/652. Even during those times, both Samsung and Qualcomm had already playing around with smaller 20nm nodes for their respective Exynos and Snapdragon chipsets.

Only fixing the bad 888 but need to wait another year for real changes armv9 will be presented soon

                            Well well,
The vanilla version will have heating issues
Improved from the SD888 but still as compared to 865 or 870
The plus version might improve it
Y'all know how Samsung made the 888 and how it turned out to be
                            Hoping on TSMC

                              I think 28nm was just 2 years ago. Now we're at 4nm??

Anonymous, 06 Jul 2021Yes, there is performance increase but at the cost of heat ... moreThe SD865 uses the cortex A77 Prime cores at 2.84Ghz and the overclocked SD865+ uses A77 at 3.1Ghz and the ++ varient SD870 uses a 3.2Ghz A77 core and both three chips are built on TSMC 7nm process.
Meanwhile in SD888 the prime core(X1) is clocked at 2.84Ghz which is lower than 870 and 865+.
The 3.2Ghz SD 870 produces a score of 1050 points in single core performance and the 888 with 2.84Ghz produce 100 points more on average.

Both the SD888 and exynos2100 with the X1 cores built on Samsung 5nm faces similar issues. But the SD870 with A77@3.2Ghz on TSMC's 7nm and Kirin9000 with A77@3.13Ghz on TSMC'S 5nm doesn't have that heat/battery consuming issues.

The SD895+ with latest micro architecture, instruction set and TSMC's 4nm will have better performance with efficiency and sustainability.

Qualcomm may as well just stick to TSMC from the start like what they did with the 865, 865+, and 870.
