[deleted post]Did you watch JerryRig’s video about the Xperia Pro teardown? The vapor chamber is literally the largest even compared to the ROG Phone 5.
But if the vapor chamber had anything to do with performance, Sony cares about battery hence the throttling=less heat. Oppo Find X3 Pro also has aggressive throttling, only scoring

Anonymous, 07 Jul 2021Battery gate drama was entirely different. Nobody pays 125 ... moreOh god, just proves you people have absolutely no clue what batterygate was even about yet you all harp about it endlessly like donkeys. How the frigging hell was Apple "caught" degrading battery when they were doing performance degrading IN RESPONSE to battery degradation which comes with age and usage. Not that you Android fans would know what's like to use phone for 5+ years when you lose software support after just 2 but anyways. All the complaining came from lack of communication about the feature. Without chipset slowdown, phones were turning off and Apple mitigated that by simply slowing down chipset so it doesn't pull as much amps from battery to cause a shutdown. Phone isn't as fast, but it's still usable and wouldn't shut down anymore. They weren't doing this on phones with good batteries to imply planned obsolescence and if you replaced battery, you restored full performance. Problem was they didn't notify users about it or give them choice and that's where "battery gate" came from, not all the stuff people make up here.
And only reason there was lawsuit and they paid it because it's a big American company. Good luck just filing a class lawsuit with Chinese company lmao. Guess where OnePlus's BBK is from...
The situation with OnePlus's "cheating" is exactly the same thing. They're being scrutinized because they didn't communicate the thing to users and they just made it a transparent function that does the job without any user knowledge or interaction. I mean, what they have to gain if they slowdown daily apps and not benchmarks? When you cheat you kinda don't restrict daily apps and you artificially boost benchmarks to score better than the rest. So, this alone makes no sense to be called "cheating". Cheating was when Realme (was it GT Neo?) was caught degrading output image in benchmarks into some mangled mess to artificially boost performance. That was specifically targeting benchmarks to cheat. This here is just running benchmarks unrestricted and it's restricting social media garbage as evident from the list of optimized apps. Aka, not cheating if you ask me. It's literally optimization.

Akashraj, 07 Jul 2021You should check out the source article. Op almost never us... morePopular apps might not need those performance cores. Benchmarks on the other hand push the cpu upto it's limits that normal apps won't. This is why a mid range or upper mid range processor is enough for most people as they won't access that much power in real world and therefore end up consuming less battery overall

This recent observation by Geekbench is well noted and will definitely guide customers but however, people has already been misled to purchase the phones based on the previous recommendations.

Op almost never uses the performance cores in popular apps even when it's needed. Meanwhile, it doesn't limit the use of them in benchmark apps giving a false idea of its max performance. That's why it's called cheating.

Except for some software glitches off late, Oxygen OS was well optimized Android skins just after stock Android bare skin which is present on Pixel Line up. I am excited to test Pixel 6/Pixel 6 Pro with snapdragon 870ish performance of battery life and CPU. I hope this is landmark in Google/Pixel line up with respect to camera and in house chipset for better control over software. Oxygen OS was well managed till One Plus 6T/7T. Its just that they ruined everything with price and software updates after Oxygen OS 10.3.4. I hope ZTE competes with them soon by producing quality products. One Plus era has come to end. One Plus 3T to One Plus 7T was One Plus peak era. They just dominated the market. But now Samsung has upped the game in software experience and Oppo/Vivo/Xiaomi has upped their game in camera department. One Plus is lost between these two ends. I hope they focus on Oxygen OS more than releasing singke product per year at affordable price points. One Plus doesn't deserve a single penny above 600USD.

AnonD-1003038, 07 Jul 2021But is it really cheating? What's the point in giving ... moreIt would've been easily excusable if they have only limited the performance on SNS apps or very lightweight apps that will never need the extra performance from the X1 core. Unfortunately, however, they do this on wide variety of apps including a few browsers as well as fairly CPU intensive MS/Google office, along with several of their own system apps.
According to Anandtech: "having it side-by-side to a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, or a Xiaomi Mi11 (Ultra) and paying attention, I do very much notice that the OnePlus 9 Pro is less responsive", even though they do indeed admit that they "cannot quantify it properly". So while I would say this limiter is nowhere near as bad as the benchmark booster seen on other phones in the past, simply due to the sheer number of affected apps (i.e. there are only less than 60 of them), it's still quite shady and needs to be removed through a software update ASAP.
