Go ask them why they didn't have a single article on batterygate where they paid 125 million dollar fine, meanwhile they'll have articles on suspect cheating by Android manufacturers on benchmarks (no fines paid)

As you can see there oneplus score 107 in speedometer with Vivaldi and only 16 with Chrome.

Due to throttling score dropped from 107 to 16, apply it in your car analogy.

Sure, OnePlus, Samsung, Huawei, Google, Apple and Microsoft are EVERY brand.
Xiaomi, Sony, Motorola, Vivo, Oppo, Realme, etc, they all don't exist, obviously.

And NO, before anyone points it out, it isn't because OnePlus and Oppo are both owned by BBK that it make them the same, OnePlus did many anti-consumer things, I don't remember anything like that from Oppo.

Hemedans, 08 Jul 2021So oneplus throttle 80 to 90% of its power, apply it to you... moreHmm, so you're trying to compare a car's power being throttled down to 20% of the maximum to OnePlus throttling apps down to 80-90% of maximum? Why the vast difference in percentages?

It would be better to say the car will only go 115mph (80%) or 130mph (90%) instead of the maximum of 145mph. In this case, no, I wouldn't have an issue with this. But I would like to understand the benefit of this limitation. Maybe it's safety? Maybe gas savings?

Your car can move 145MPH, then manufacture throttle it to 14 to 28MPH, would you be happy with your car?

But oneplus is worse, A14 it can throttle and lose half of its performance you get 50% of that power, but you lose lot of performance from X1 to cortex A55, you can see their graphs. Oneplus lose 80 to 90% of its power, that's Un acceptable for flagship phone. Check this graph

Only a few Chinese products are both good and cheap. The rest are copycats or poor quality, just look at Chinese cars shamelessly imitating European brands.

Before the s21 launch I sais this and nobody liked it, I hope Samsung releases the vanilla s21 with a sp865+ and drop the price by a 100$ for example, and keep the sp888 for the ultra model, establishing a whole new category of proper ultra flagships while making flagships go back to more affordable territory rather than the crazy prices we see every time. Why? Because the majority don't need that much power, the sp865 with a properly optimized software is already perfect for most people, this will push Qualcomm of creating a new a category of flagshi soc that focuse an efficiency, keeping thos power hungry chip sets like the 888 for the ultra flagships. Just explain to me why as a person who's not into gaming have to pay extra for a processor too powerful for my daily usage, and don't tell me there mid-range phones because we all know why people buy flagships, it's always the camera.

What Apple did was deliberately lower the performance, similar to someone slowing down your car deliberately after you have been using it for a couple of years, with the intention of making you buy a new car.

*Every* stock car is, by design, capping the maximum performance of most mechanical components for reliability/durability reasons. The car manufacturers don't need to send a mechanic to your house because cars need regular maintenance -- you are actually taking your car in voluntarily and then they (read competent mechanics) do the recommended procedures to make your car last longer. Yes, your car's performance goes down over time. No, it's not a conspiracy nor a cabal; it's mostly wear and tear and competent people saving you time and money.

That's why cars are the worst analogy to talk about mass electronics.
