Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra to feature 200MP Olympus camera, S Pen support

    A 4K image has a resolution of 8.3MP. All cameras above 12MP either "fuse" pixels together or discard them (Which isn't ALWAYS a bad thing, see EIS)

    In some cases that "fusing together" of pixels (Pixel binning) can help a little bit, especially with low-light images. But you know what helps more? A bigger sensor, that can receive more light, or a bigger active area of the sensor. In a bigger sensor, each pixel can receive more light, which will mean each pixel can capture more accurately the luminosity and colours.

    The Mi 11 has an 108MP camera, but it's binned to 27MP. It throws away over 2/3's of the information absorbed by the sensor when capturing 4K images or footage (Remember, they're only 8.3MP). It literally made no difference from a 48MP camera with the same pixel size. A 48MP camera with a sensor of the same size (And therefore bigger pixels) would have been far better. But they prefer the "Megapixel marketing". How much information will a 200MP camera throw away? Even 9 to 1 binning means 22.2MP effective resolution, which means between half and 2/3 of the information captured by the sensor is going in the bin.

    There's a good reason as to why Google, Sony and Apple still use 12MP cameras. Yes, they are cutting some costs, a 48MP camera would have been nice - but they also focus on the bit that matters the most for consumers, the software.

    And to put a nail on this coffin: A professional RED camera, that costs more than what my organs would go for and does 8K60 video, has a 35.4MP sensor. The difference is in the size and quality of the sensor, in the processing power of the hardware, and ultimately in the software.

      Nice gimmicks that three to four specs nerds around the world would love to have.

Even if you pack 200MP or 300MP on a sensor that is less than 1 inch it doesn't make it better. The reason Nokia's 41MP is good is that the pixel size and sensor size were big. 1.4um pixel size and the biggest sensor until recently is what made it good.

        If Nokia didn't crumble and worked on a better version of that phone, maybe collab with Sony and have a custom sensor, then it could've been amazing.

        Anyways I'm just going to wait and see when this sensor released and we see the real specs

            Again since we don't know the sensor size, which I'm assuming is less than one inch, having 200MP will not be beneficial. There's a physical limitation, and unless they have really small pixels (which might cause another problem on its own), so unless they increase the sensor size, then it's a waste of 200MP.

              Pointless...
              There are many comparison videos online that show the s10 takes just as great photos, and even at times better, than the s20 ultra, or the s21 ultra.

              Unless really pixel peeping 12mpx 1/2.55 is enough, even superior when you look at the iphone 12 lineup. Thisbis coming from someone who owns an s21 plus.

There are plenty of tests done online that show that you can notice the difference, I have 3 different devices that I've used and can see a difference (whether you believe me or not doesn't matter)"

                          Same way 200mp sensor will make a difference. Stop calling it overkill. We all know how bad the Xperia 1 III is with 12mp tiny sensor. S21 Ultra with 108mp sensor is overall the 2nd best camera phone on the market right now

As technology is getting more advanced these days, we could see what we couldn't before.

                                AnonD-936656, 12 Jul 2021on 50mp camera you can zoom 2x without loosing zoom, on 200... moreI was talking about continuous optical zoom(I got messed for some reason, I apologize), which we can see on real cameras, so you can zoom optically, without having to zoom digitally. As you know, on current phones, if your phone has 5x optical zoom, when you zoom at 4x for example, that is digital zoom. So, continuous optical zoom will be the future.

                                      Samsung fans complained when SD card slot, headphone jack and charger were removed. They were all over the forums here. Some selective memory there ya.

                                      For the same width, a 5.1-inch screen is shorter than a 6.5-inch screen. And a QHD screen has fewer vertical pixels (1440) compared to 1 III's 1644. So how are they comparable?

                                        Difference between Full HD and QHD is much smaller than QHD and 4K.

                                        Vivo and LG got trashed for QHD (late 2013 and early 2014) , but Samsung and Motorola (late 2014) were not.

                                        Samsung users for years have bashed the 4,7" iphone for its HD, when Galaxy Alpha had same HD resolution for its 4,7" , just like iphone 6.

                                        Same old story. Everything is gimmick and waste of time until Samsung uses.

                                        Ip rating, stereo speakers, glass back, Qi charging, OIS , motion eye cmos, QHD screen, ultra wide camera, the "2x cam" , laser AF.

                                        Best part : samsung users logic

                                        Google makes Pixel without sd slot : - too greedy , wanna sell cloud service.
                                        Samsung removes sd slot : - ufs is faster, who cares?

                                        Other remove jack: - they wanna sell earbuds !!!
                                        Samsung removes jack: - wireless quality is now on pair with wired. Jack is obsolete!!

                                        Apple removes accessories : - Nature? Yeah , LOL ..
                                        samsung removes accessories : - I have many chargers at home !!

                                        All just sound like those youtubers that for years trashed LG, then made video to say they were so sorry LG quit.
