Samsung uses today HM3, with same specs of HM1.
S7, S8 , S9 and S10 were all 12MP 1/2.6" dual pixel.
Each phone had newer sensor (isocell and exmor).
If you plan to keep same size and pixel count, newer sensor would not bring 2% better performance (not even using RAW).
Mi 11 uses HMX from late 2019, still does job extremely well. Better than Mi 11 Ultra in my opinion.

Instead of repeating overkill overkill overkill just wait it's release and you will see. Nothing is overkill. Be it a 300 megapixel camera or a laptop with 2TB ram or 8TB storage or a car with high horsepower like 500 or 16K TV or 200FPS gaming or a 1KG gold chain.

Infact the screen doesn't even operate at 4k most of the times.. No 3k 120hz, only 1080p 120hz available

Every iPhone except pro Max version is on last year's sensor. Apple as usual cutting costs. Lower tier hardware for lower tier people

I stopped obsessing over phone cameras several years ago (around 6 years iirc) because the high end ones just make so good photos I just don't care. You really have to buy a budget phone to have really obviously bad photos.

Everyone was criticizing 108mp sensor on Samsung yet no one talked bout sensor size which was huge and was responsible for great pics. This is why small sensor from iPhone getting annihilated.

This megapixels obsession needs to die. All it does is make photos freaking massive with no extra value. Would be nice if they focused on lossless digital zoom though since you can crop such images quite far and still retain enough megapixels to look good even when cropped.

I believe Samsung should concentrate on improving their software rather than increasing the mega pixels. The Apple's 12 MP provides equally good photos compared to Samsung's 108 mp.
