When they started out in beginning they said it was the company to bring premium features in affordable prices but nowadays they are themselves became a premium phone company with prices competing other premium phones....

I just want to know if anyone found the performance to be lacking on these phones before anyone know about the battery saving throttling?

I can agree with them, and even wish that there were a feature to include more apps in this black list to ban apps from using the prime core unnecessarily, I don't need Facebook and WhatsApp running at 3Ghz lol

Both phones have worked well so I don't see a reason why it should be substantially inferior to phones from other companies. They have been increasing the prices ever year that I do not like but the phones itself are good

Religious Playboy , 13 Jul 2021It's become a trend to hate on OnePlus in the past cou... moreI've hated OnePlus since the launch of their very first phone, the OnePlus One, precisely because of the kind of dishonesty and manipulation seen in this story.

When OnePlus first started, they made a huge deal of their whole "never settle" slogan and how they were making a "flagship killer." There was so much ridiculous hype. Then the phone came out and it was lacking in many ways, not least of which the OnePlus One had an extremely subpar camera for what you could get in a flagship in those days. It also had inferior call quality and noise cancellation (for the time), amongst other things.

It was obvious from day one that OnePlus was just a bunch of hype. They are very good at marketing and creating buzz and inspiring mindless followers. But their phones have always lacked in one way or another and fallen well short of their claims.

So the current story is just the latest example. It's obvious OnePlus was being cheap about how to improve battery life and heat dissipation (again their strategy since the company began). But now that they've been caught they have the hutzpah to instead basically blame their own users. To wit: It's your fault for wanting a faster chipset that you don't need. We'll tell you what you should want and care about. (This is actually a lot like how Apple treats their users, who lap it up year after year.)

Anyway, so I guess I was ahead of the curve in recognizing how full of hot air OnePlus is. If there's a "trend" lately in hating OnePlus, it's only because the general public is finally catching up with the reality of what OnePlus has been all along.

AnonD-558092, 13 Jul 2021Then, why make people pay extra for the most recent SoCs if... moreAnd that's why a 2 year flagship like Note10+ is still a king even by today standard except for the 120 hz display I must confess. :-)

Typical. Just more evidence OnePlus along with Oppo are for the tip. Rather than give the consumer the choice, it's like nah FK that , throttle the apps

Most of the people hating are the ones who could afford OnePlus at one point, but now they can't.

I dare anyone to use my OnePlus 9 and proclaim it is slower than other flagships.
The Oxygen OS smoothens any road bumps along the way.
These guys on Anandtech have spent unnecessary time over something that hardly affects in real world usage of these apps.

Although I don't believe OnePlus is manipulating benchmarks as alleged by Geekbench, I don't believe they should throttle their phones either. But in the end, maybe their users don't mind if they can get an hour or two extra out of the battery.

People complaining unnecessarily. Yes, in-theory they did reduce the apps to lower cores but it does not even affect the real world user experience as they said the recent CPUs are too capable to run several apps even with the smaller cores. So it is okay, it is optimisations that the Oxygen OS is about and not whether or not it saves a lot of battery
